7.Starting training

"Simon don't forget. After school we have practice ;)"
This was the message Simon got that morning. They had given each others phone numbers so if Simon had something to ask about he could call Daphne anytime. But still he felt not happy about it. He didn't want to get her number in that way. Jane and Mark were really proud of him. They didn't care if he would win or not they appreciated Simon's determination. But Simon felt different. He really wanted to win and show everyone he is not a loser.

The school day was boring as always. Simon couldn't wait for the day to finish and do practice with Daphne. But that wasn't all. He wanted to start something more than a boy who is practising with her relationship. He wanted to know each other better to have at least a friendly relationship.
Finally the bell rang. He wouldn't go home but he would meet Daphne at the school entry. Alex and his best friends wished him luck but not for the practice of course. It annoyed Simon but what could he do. That's how his sister and friends were. He was heading at the school door and Daphne was there talking with a girl.
She saw him and waved to him. Simon blushed. He still blushed when she saw him. Yeah he needed to do something about it.
"Hey Simon. Ready for the first day? "
"I was born ready. "
" OK wait me outside. I have a few things to take from my locker.
"Alright "
But as he was heading outside he heard one of Daphne's friend saying to her.
"Daphne have you gone mad? How could you consider a paralyzed guy to represent our school? "
"I know what I'm doing. Do you have any problem with Simon ?"
"I don't have any problem with him. I know why you are doing this Daphne but have you thought about how he would feel if he fails?"
"You know nothing. You haven't seen him yet,he is .."
"Daphne I'm not talking only about Simon but also you. I know that you have been through a lot and.."
"Stop! Don't say more. I don't want anyone hear about that. "
"It's only us. Don't worry. "
"I have to go. I can't let Simon wait any longer. Bye."
Simon heard everything. He wasn't thinking about what her friend said about him but what she said about Daphne. What did she mean with you have been through a lot? But in that moment Daphne came and he stopped thinking about that.
"Sorry I let you waiting. "
"No don't worry. It's okay. "
"OK I see the car is here let's go.
"Yes but where are we practising?
"My house. I have a nice pool there.
Simon started to feel a bit nervous when she said that. He was going at her place. He needed to calm down. It wasn't anything big anyway why was he doing like a big deal anyway.
They entered into the car and the driver helped him to. The ride was pretty quiet. But Simon could see how worried Daphne looked. She was cracking her fingers all the time and she looked like she was going to break down in any moment. Simon was sure it had to do with what her friend said to her earlier but for what was she talking about.
"We're here kids." the driver said.
"What? " Daphne said.
"We arrived Daphne. You seem confused. Are you alright? "
"I'm fine. I was just deep in my thoughts I guess. Come on."

They headed inside the beautiful mason where Daphne lived. It was a really awesome place. It was pretty huge,it had a nice garden and a beautiful water fountain. The inside was more beautiful. There was a big hall with different and colourful paintings on the wall. They went to the living room where was a woman that looked just like Daphne but an older version. She must be her mother.
"Oh hello dear. How was your day?" She asked her daughter.
"It was fine mum. "
"I see you have brought a friend. "
"Yes he is Simon Johnson a classmate. Simon this is my mother.
"Nice to meet you mam. "
"I'm Veronica Brawn. My daughter has talked me about you. You are going to train for that competition yeah?
In that moment Simon felt like he was a five year-old boy. What kind of questions was she asking?
"Yep. " he said quickly.
"Don't be shy. What you are doing is something really good. Not everyone like you would do something like that. Your family must be really proud of you. "
"Fine mum. We need to go to the pool now. "
"Why don'tyou eat something first? You just came from school. "
"I'm not hungry. "
"I don't care . You should eat. We are having chicken. Do you like chicken Simon? "
"Yes I guess. "
"Alright. Lisa prepare the table. " Veronica said walking into the kitchen.
"Simon prepare yourself for the longest lunch of your life. "
"What do you mean? "
"You will see by yourself. "
Yep she was definitely right. All the lunch Veronica asked questions and questions like "How old were you when your first tooth fell?"
After a lunch which looked more like a interrogation part they were finally alone.
"Wow your mother would make a good cop. "
"I know." Daphne said laughing.
"When she asked about the tooth. I couldn't keep myself from laughing.
"That was so weird. I didn't know what to say. "
"That was fun. Let's get changed. "
They went to some changing rooms near the pool.
"Simon well emm do you...
"I don't need help don't worry. "
"Ok"
They got changed and went to the pool. Simon couldn't stop staring at the perfect body shape of Daphne. She looked like a goddess. But he wasn't the only one who was doing this. Daphne's heart was beating like crazy when she saw Simon's bare chest. It was so muscular. "How can a boy in a wheelchair have such a great body?" she thought blushing.
"Daphne are you OK? You look red as a tomato. "
"It's really hot that's why. Look how much the sun shines. Let's start now please."
"Ok. Calm down.
They both entered in the water. Daphne started moving her arms and legs and swimming a freestyle. Simon was moving his arms slowly at first and then faster. After some time they stopped and sitted on the pool's board.
"It's fun isn't it?"
"Yes I don't feel tired at all juding all I can use are my arms. "
"Well you have strong arms Simon. But are they strong enough for a water fight?"
"Water fight? "
But he couldn't get the answer as Daphne pushed him and herself in the water and started throwing water at him.
"Catch me if you can Johnson. "
She said laughing. Simon tried to get closer to her but she didn't let him. So he dived into the water and sawm towards her.
"Simon where did you go?"
She got her answer when his arms wrapped around hers.
"I won Daphne. " he said to her with a low voice.
They were just staying like that,with his arms wrapped around hers and staring at each others eyes; Simon into her blue ocean eyes and Daphne into his dark as the night eyes. They were so close. Their noses were almost touching. Their hearts were beating so fast that looked like they were going to rip their chests. They were getting closer and then in that moment while the sun was setting she pressed her lips against his. At first Simon was suprised but then he kissed her back. Their kiss was becoming more and more passionate and their tongues were dancing together. It was a perfect first kiss and it looked just like a beautiful dream but which was real. They were kissing and didn't thought of breaking it at all. They wanted to stay like that forever. It was such a passionate kiss that they couldn't even think "What are we doing? ". It was so unexpected so beautiful so awesome full of lust. But then a phone rang which broke their amazing kiss. Simon and Daphne stopped and stared at each other without saying nothing for a moment.
"I'm so sorry Simon. I shouldn't have done that. "She said leaving.
"Wait Daphne please."
But she had already left leaving Simon with a million questions. He couldn't say he didn't like it he loved it but still they needed to talk about it.
