Chapter Five

I woke up to the sound of my alarm. It was seven in the morning. I turned off my alarm, grabbed my pillow, and put it over my face. I didn't want to wake up but I had work. I usually don't work on Saturday's, but today I had to.

I sighed, grabbed my phone and checked my messages. Astrid texted me saying she is going to work today. I also got a text from an unknown. I furrowed my eyebrows and opened the text. I calmed down realizing it was Shawn.

Morning love, this is Shawn x

I smiled and quickly responded.

Morning Shawn :)

What do you have to do today hun?

Work, sadly.

What time do you get off work?

4 pm.

Okay well, have a nice time.

I'll try. But no one likes work so.

Haha still try to.

I sighed and put my phone away. I went to my bathroom and put my hair in a bun. I washed my face and brushed my teeth. I put on some clothes and shoes.

Getting ready is always easy for me because I don't wear makeup. One because I am too lazy. Two because I am cheap and makeup is expensive. And three I don't really care what people think of me. So I just don't bother to buy any makeup.

I grabbed my backpack, keys, and phone. I made my way downstairs. I put my stuff on the chair next to the counter. I heated up some waffles. I put Nutella on them. I quickly ate. I put everything away and grabbed my stuff and made my way towards the door.

I stopped and realized that I haven't heard anything from Kelsey. I called out her name. No answer. I furrowed my eyebrows. This wasn't like Kels, yeah she may always be partying but she always tells me where she is.

I grabbed my phone and called her. After a while, she answered.

"Hello?" Kelsey asked.

"Kelsey where the hell have you been, I didn't hear from you yesterday!"

"Sorry I haven't answered. I got really drunk at the club so this girl helped me out and she let me sleep over at her house. She is nice but I'm sorry I didn't tell you I was fine."

"Kels, you're are my best friend but you need to start being more responsible. I told you this before. What are you going to do when school starts?"

"I don't know Luna. I am a mess right now."

"Well, you better start working something out because I am not going to babysit you." I hung up and looked at my watch. I had twenty minutes before I had to go work.

I made my way outside, locked the door, and got in my car.

I made my way into the shop and sighed. Kelsey was really starting to worry me.

I clocked in and saw Astrid already working and I smiled at her.
"Hey, Astrid!" I waved at her.

She looked up from a magazine she was reading to pass the time.

"Oh hey, Luna! How's life been?"

"Great actually, I met this guy and he is super fun to be around."

"Ooooh, little Luna has a lover boy!" Astrid squealed.

I rolled my eyes. "He is not my 'lover boy' Astrid," I said while laughing.

"Yeah, sure whatever you say." We got back to work. The day consisted of Astrid and I talking and doing random stuff. There weren't a lot of customers today so it was fine.

I then realized I haven't seen Stephen in a long time. I wonder if he quit. I couldn't ask him, I didn't have any of his contact information. I shrugged it off, I mean at least I have Astrid as a friend.

Astrid looked at me and said, "Hey Luna want to hang out someday?"

"Sure! When do you have a day off?"

"Monday how about you?" Astrid replied.

"Tomorrow and Monday."

"Great! So want me to pick you up on Monday?"

"No, it's fine. We can meet up somewhere and then go somewhere else." I replied. "Okay that's fine, where do you want to meet up though?" I thought for a second and then smiled. "How about the tea place, it can be our place from now on?"

Astrid smiled. "Yes, I would like that!"

"Deal then!" I smiled at her. "I'll be back, I'm gonna go to the bathroom." I nodded and started humming a song.

I heard the bell on the door ring. I looked towards the door and saw the familiar brown haired boy. I smiled immediately.

He looked around and he caught my gaze. He smiled at me. "Hey, Luna!"

"Hey Shawny boy!" He walked up to me and hugged me over the counter.

"How is your day love?" He said while he was still hugging me.

"It is great! I don't want to sound rude or anything but, why are you here?" I said while tilting my head. Shawn blushed and looked down at his feet.

"Just wanted to see my favorite friend!" He looked up and smiled widely. Now I was blushing.

"So you are just gonna sit around," I said while wiping the counter.

"Yep, I will sit around and wait." I stopped and looked at him confused.

"You will wait? Did we plan something because I don't remember." Shawn laughed. I was still confused.

"Yes Luna, I will wait. And no we don't have anything planned, but I have a surprise for you."

I was still confused. I tilted my head and furrowed my eyebrows. "Alright, whatever you say Shawny boy." I giggled.

"It's cute when you call me that" he whispered. I heard him say something but I didn't know what. I looked up confused. "Did you say something?"

"Uh yeah um, do you guys sell muffins?"

I giggled and said, "Yes we do, what kind do you want?"

"Chocolate please." I handed him a muffin. "How much," he asked.

I shook my head. "Don't worry about it." I smiled up at him. Shawn thanked me and leaned on the counter. He took off the wrapper of his muffin and started eating it.

Astrid came out of the bathroom and Shawn and I both turned our heads towards her. Astrid walked behind the counter and whispered to me. "Luna, is this the secret lover boy?"

"No I mean yeah he is but he isn't a lover boy," I whispered back. Shawn turned around and looked at us. I introduced Astrid to Shawn.

"Shawn this is Astrid, Astrid this is Shawn." Astrid smiled at him and stuck her hand out.

"Hey, Shawn." Shawn shook her hand. "Hey, Astrid."

"He is gonna be sticking around for today," I told Astrid. She nodded and helped some customers that walked in.

Two hours passed by and it was almost time for my shift to end. Ten more minutes to find out what Shawn's surprise is.

I looked down at my watch, it read four. I clocked out and looked at Shawn. He smiled at me and said, "Ready?"

I smiled back. "Ready."
