Chapter Thirteen
~Violet's POV~
It's a weird day when my alarm wakes me up rather than Teegan. She absolutely, completely and utterly, loves torturing me by waking me up. I have said it before and I will say it again, my best friend is a sadist. She's literally crazy. She finds enjoyment out of making others suffer. So the shock that I feel waking up to my annoying ass alarm is so insane. That is motivation enough for me to get out of bed, just to see what's going on with Tee. I go to her room and see it empty, the bathroom door is wide open, empty. Where is that demon?
I head downstairs, trying to figure out what could possibly be happening. Like everything just feels... off. I walk into the kitchen to see Tee cooking, smiling, doing a little dance as she cooks her eggs. What? She has her headphones in and she's lip syncing whatever song is on, so caught up in it all she still hasn't noticed me in the room. I creep up behind her and jump on her back. She just casually hits me away, not even flinching. She pulls her headphones out and flashes me a big smile.
"What is going on with you?" I ask, raising an eyebrow. She is way too happy, like don't get me wrong, I love seeing her happy, but this is not normal. Like at all.
"Am I not allowed to be happy?" She gets defensive right from the start. That's always fun.
"Tee, you literally were on the verge of depression just yesterday. Of course I'm going to be suspicious when all of a sudden you're just happy for no apparent reason." Clearly something happened. Teegan is a special kind of person and she doesn't just randomly smile. Never in all of my year of knowing her, have I seen her so happy for no reason.
"Vi, life sucks. Move on. We're young. I don't want to sit around mulling over what happened. Nikki wouldn't want that. She'd say 'grow up, child. Live your life to the fullest because why not?' So for once in my life I'm going to listen to her and do just that. We deserve happiness." I know she's right, but I know there's more. I'm done pushing for now, but I will get down to the bottom of this mystery too. Besides, it is way too soon to just be okay. I know her, she's running.
"You do you, fruit loop." I flash a smile and head back upstairs to get ready. I throw on a navy blue top with a stripe of lace up on the sleeves. I throw on some skinny jeans and my navy blue converse. I straighten my hair and decide against makeup today. I take a look in the mirror, sure it doesn't please the eyes, but who cares? I'm me. Get over it. I'm not looking good for anyone or anything so deal with it or get lost. I grab my phone and head downstairs, ready to start this crazy day.
The first half of the day is always so boring, there is literally no one of interest in it. Nothing happens. The classes suck. I literally hate the mornings so freaking much. Like why do they have to exist? Honestly please, someone tell me why.
I just stay quiet and get through the boring, stupid classes as per usual. Onto lunch. I am literally so ready to just go be alone, spend some quality girl time with Tee like we do everyday, but when I get to our meeting spot, she's not there. Her class is right around the corner so she's literally always here. Where is she? Annoyed, I look at my phone to see a quick text.
Tee: Let's eat in caf. today, meet me there.
I let out a frustrated sigh. Seriously, what is this girls deal? We avoid the cafeteria for a reason, we hate people. It just so happens the cafeteria is filled with people. I, for one, am definitely not a fan of the cafeteria and I know Teegan Quinn feels the same way so why she's forcing us both to suffer through a lunch in the cafeteria, I will never know nor understand. I head in that direction anyway, not exactly in a good mood.
I walk into the cafeteria and spot Teegan, sitting alone in a corner of the back of the room. I furrow my eyebrows. Why are we spending lunch in this miserable place if we're just gonna do what we do out in the hall... away from stupid normal humanity. I walk over, sitting down across from her. I just give her this stare that snaps her out of the trance she seemed to be in when I walked over.
