Sierra's POV
I walked down the hallways and searched the lockers. Nothing. I slammed the locker doors closed and moved on.
I hear a noise and I raise my pistol. "Who's there?" No response. A shadow darts across my vision, just across the hallway and I turn around, firing one shot.
Bang!
The body crumples and blood leaks from the singular bullet wound in its head. I crouch to check the body and I'm tackled to the side.
"Wh-!" The body hits me and I'm smashed against the lockers, an insane amount of strength displayed, I launch the body back with a punch and fire another shot at it.
A high pitched squeal releases from it's dying mouth and I fire yet another precious bullet at the being. The sounds stop and the hallways were quiet again.
"You hear that?" Nexus says as I stalk the corridor. I turn around and look at the doorway we just came through. Nexus and Johnny both had their weapons raised and I took the lead, with Marc in the back.
I raised a fist and dived for the door, locking it. A loud slam against the door confirmed my suspicion.
There was more than just us in here.
"Foxtrot. Take point. Get that primer ready." Foxtrot nods and heads for the next door and primes a grenade, then toss it at the floor and runs back to us.
The grenade detonates and a large foamy substance covers the wall, before quickly hardening and the sounds stop.
"What are those things?" Marc asks.
"Biohumans. Modified human genetics given to both dead and alive. Be careful." The three men nod and we secure the hallway, before coming to face the door.
"Bursting in would be a huge miscalculation on our side." Delta, my AI reminds.
"But we have nowhere else to go," Nexus says, but Marc silences him.
"Delta's right. But Nexus has a point too. We should consider the upper floors before going into that room." Marc advises. I consider the options and I smirk.
"Marc. Take Johnny and Nexus to the seventh floor. I will handle it down here."
Marc opens his mouth in protest, but stops and nods.
"Affirmative. Proceeding to the objective area." Johnny and Nexus follow Marc up the stairs and I heave a sigh of relief.
Cass appears out of thin air and draws her swords.
"Been busy Cass?" She just shakes her head and taps her watch.
"Fine!" I let go of the door and a hoard of biohumans charge us. I take the first eager one down with a double slash and two more charges me, taking me by surprise, smashing more lockers.
"Sierra, are you okay?" Nexus calls. I grunt, slamming the two biohumans down and leaping above them, shooting them three times in the back each before reloading.
"I'm fine." Nexus drops the call before saying anything else and Cass takes out another biohuman just before it grabs me. I return the favour and blast the head of one of the biohumans as soon its teeth got near Cass' neck.
"Thanks," Cass says.
"Don't thank me yet." More biohumans run out and their howls and screams were met with gurgles as I fired shot after shot, carefully observing my ammo count on every gun.
"It would be wise to retreat," Delta advises. I shake my head. "No! Not yet."
Cass and I continue fighting and we spot a weakness in the biohumans, a small, almost unnoticeable chink their left shoulder, a bare, unexposed part of their skin that once ruptured, with sufficient damage, will split the bodies in two.
