CHAPTER 1

"Kateeeeee!"

I woke up to my brother sreaming my name.

"What is it ?" I screamed back. I looked at my alarm clock and it read 6:00 a.m.

It was way to early.

When there was no reply I went down the old rickety staircase that went from the 3rd floor to the ground floor of the orhanage.

When I reached the ground floor I was astonished to find that all the curtain were closed and the lights switched off.

"Mike! What do u want??!!"

I suddenly heard about 10 voices shouting "Happy Birthday Kathryn! "

And right in front of them is my little dark brown haired brother with a gigantic grin plastered across his face.

He's holding something .... its a chocolate cake .

My favourite.

"I know that's why I chose it. Who else besides your little bro would know your favourite cake flavour. "

"Shut up." I'm still to happy,surprised that he remembered and embarrassed that I said my favourite out loud like one of those sentimental saps.

I go back to my room,change into a maroon coloured strapless dress with a white cardigan and come back.

"May I have the 1st dance?"my brother mockingly asks.

"No. You certainly may not. " I answered trying not to laugh.

"I asked just to annoy you. I succeeded." he says smugly.

The rest of the day was awesome. The party was still going strong even at 11:30 p.m.

I went outside at about midnight when I suddenly saw this gigantic snake creature that was about 15 ft tall and covered in these sickly pale yellow-green scales and worst of all instead of eyes there were just these dark pits.

I felt like I was going to be sick just by looking at it.

The wierdest thing was that all the people were acting normal as if there weren't any huge snake creatures lurking in dark alleys.

I see a letter on the floor in front of me. It said:

Dear Kathryn,

Today you have turned 16 which means now u will see the world as it really is without the glamours. Follow the following instructions:

1- You will need to travel so you have to carry with u only the essentials.

2- This will be a dangerous journey so it is up to u if ur going to take ur brother with u.

3- You r currently in York, England if I'm correct if so then please go to the Mc donalds (since there is only one) and say u r part of the cult to the person at the counter only if its a redheaded woman.

And finally I know u have no reason to trust me since I have not even yet disclosed my name but believe me that if you go where I tell u all ur answers to questions of or from ur past will be given. When u reach there u will have a choice should u accept it o will correspond with u later.

P.S. If the counterwoman is still not sure say her name....Demetria.
