The heavy sigh of a young boy mimicked his emotions, gloomy and miserable as he made his way up to the second floor of his new home. It was a sudden movement that he had no say in, making it feel worse that he had to leave everything he knew behind.
"Cheer up champ. You should go check out your room." His father announced in hopes of getting ride of the frown on his face,"there's a big oak right outside the window, go find a nice branch for a tire swing!" The young boy gave off a foney smile before walking to his room.
Peering out of the window he could barley make out anything past the tree for it being so grand. Opening up the window he could see a ledge underneath giving easy access to the big oak. Climbing out the window he found a nice seat ontop of a thick branch.
He couldn't of been sitting there for more than five minutes before a chunk of the gate moved. Curious and slightly frightened he crept forwards to get a better view, and there stood a girl. She looked of his age, in a white dress and a bruse on her brown skin. Heavily panting she jumped a little when he finally came into her sight.
With her back against the wooden gate she spoke, "Hi."
Her voice so soft it almost came out as a whisper, catching him off guard at first before he responded.
"Hi, I'm Simon." "Dahlila." She announced after a gulp, starting to catch her breath.
"Do you want to sit with me?" Simon asked waiting for her next movement, seeing as she was acting rather cautious.Dahlila gave a nodded yes in responce before walking quickly towards the tree and climbing up even faster, and with the help of Simon she sat on the branch parallel him. "Are you okay? What happened to your face?" He asked on impulse as he looked at the now purple bruise on her cheekbone. "What?" She asked back shocked at first "Oh it's nothing my dads just mad agian, What are you doing sitting on Bertha?" Dahlila questioned with the narrowing of her eyes "Whos Bertha?" Simon asked as his legs swung over the branch. He looked at her face as she began to talk again now taking in her one deep dimple sitting in the middle of her right cheek, her rich dark chocolate eyes, and her tight curls fitting her face perfectly.
Dahlila rolled her eyes at his response and began to talk again. "She's Bertha, duh" she responded with a pat of her hand onto the tree. Simon followed the movement of her hand with his eyes. Just then she noticed that they where blue with the slightest hints of green, and under them layed a bridge of light brown freckles that where scattered so randomly it was almost perfect like. His light brown hair even moved in sync with the wind. She looked away after realizing she was staring, luckly before he noticed. "One trees don't have names and two my family just moved here." Simon responded looking back at her trying to catch her eyes. "Three your wrong everything has names, and your the new ones my dad was talking about." Dahlila said turning her head to catch his gaze. "What do you mean 'new ones' ?" Simon said with finger quotation mark "Well he said another word but I don't like to say it." Simon was about to speak agian but was cut off, "Can we just talk about something else please." Dahlila said turning her gaze to look down "Okay."
Before they relized ot, the sun was already starting to set and the moon rise. "Simon you got to start unpacking!" A female voice yelled through the house "That my mom, I got to go" he said making his way back towards the window but stopping just before entering to peer behind him
"Will you be back tommorow Dahlila?" "Sure Simon."
