I knew it was a dream but I couldn't shake the feeling that it was real. No surprise there. Song of the Caged Bird. I loved that song but I never wanted to live it. I know what I'm supposed to do but my mind was blank. The walls seem to be too close too close too close and my brain is not working and I can't think of anything else besides how small this room is. Great, now my claustrophobia is kicking in. Hold on. All these crates sparked something in my mind. Now I remember! I opened all of them execpt one which I know had something else besides lightbulbs and candles. But what. I slowly opened the lid. A violin. Perfectly placed there by whoever used it last.
"But I can't play the violin." I whispered. I picked it up and positioned it on my shoulder anyway. Just as she taught me how. I leaned the bow against the strings. But I'm not Lindsey. I can't play the violin to help me escape this room. I dropped the violin in defeat. Now I'm going to be stuck here in these close walls forever. I buried my head in my hands.
As I did so, I jolted up. I was back in my bedroom. Back in my house. Back to the real world. I was okay, but I didn't feel okay. Tears stung my eyes and I needed to tell someone. I hopped out of the bed and made my way to Lindsey's room. As I opened the door, there was movement in her bed. I froze, hoping I hadn't woken Lindsey before I'd come in. But with another movement, Luna hopped off the bed and came over to me. She looked up at me curiously, circling my legs.
"Not now Luna." I whispered sharply. I slowly made my way to Lindsey. I shook her lightly.
"Lindsey." I whispered. "Lindsey wake up." She stirred slightly, reached over and flicked on a light. She sat up and stretched slightly.
"Y'okay?" Lindsey asked. "Was it another dream?" I nodded, the tears filling my eyes as I remembered it again. Lindsey waved her arms towards herself, motioning for me to come closer and let her give me a hug. I sat down on her bed, moved closer to and she wrapped her arms around me.
"Hey, come on. It was only a dream." she whispered.
"That was... one of the worst." I choked out.
"Which one was it this time?"
"Song of the Caged Bird." I replied with a sob. She squeezed me at the answer.
"That's..." she paused a bit, searching for a word."Not a great one is it?" I gave her a slight shake of the head.
"Lindsey, is there... something wrong with me?" I asked.
"There's nothing wrong with you, Beth." Lindsey replied softly, pushing a strand of hair off my face. "It's all just a part of you growing up. Life getting in the way of your subconscious. And if it something serious, then the doctor will know what to do." She kissed me on the head.
"You're just fine." She said again with a smile. "Do you think you can try to get back to sleep?" I nodded slowly. Lindsey pulled the blankets off of her.
"Alright, I'll help you get back." She said, getting out of the bed. Together, we went back into my bedroom. I snuggled back into my bed. Lindsey gave me a kiss on the forehead.
"Goodnight Bethany." She whispered.
"Goodnight Lindsey." She got up and closed the door behind her. The sound of the violin on the floor echoed around my head. It was so awful. I turned on my back and checked the clock. 4:30. I still had a few more hours until I had to get up for school. Too long. I closed my eyes and began to play songs in my head. That'll distract me from the noise of my dream. And I actually went to sleep. A peaceful, dreamless sleep.

Time wasted away faster than I thought because soon enough I awoke to the alarm on my phone going off. I smiled. Today will be different than last night. I got up and headed downstairs. Every time I wake Lindsey up with a nightmare, she writes me a note to read in the morning, usually themed around the song.
'Getting trapped in there would be the least of your worries. At least you didn't get the candles lit then your dress caught fire. Wait, did that happen? I don't know. I'm not helping much, am I?
Love you,
Lindsey.'I smiled and sat down at the table.
"Morning there, Master of Tides." Lindsey called as she came into the kitchen. She often gives me nicknames based around songs. Master of Tides is the most recurrent, but she changes it up every morning.
"Good morning, Zi-Zi." I replied with a grin. She laughed and opened the cupboard, gasping dramatically once she did so.
"Did you take the last of the cereal?!" she cried. I giggled. Always like Lindsey to try and get me to laugh.
"I'm just joking." She replied as she sat down with a bowl of cereal. "We still have plenty."
"I wasn't too worried." I said. "We're never in dire need for it."

Lindsey drove me to school. She usually did, but I enjoyed this one more than usual. Probably because Lindsey was going on tour soon and I tried to revel in the feeling of the silence of the car. When Lindsey leaves, I'll have to go on the bus. The bus that seems to have never ending noise, even when it begins to empty. Lindsey glanced over at me while we were at a red light.
"Now, where might Lindsey be if Lindsey's not home?" She asked. I groaned. She likes going through this with me because sometimes I get panicky when she's not home for a long time.
"Tour rehearsal. Studio. Music video set. Interview." I looked over at her and smirked. "Grocery store?" Lindsey grinned and chuckled softly. I like throwing new ones in there sometimes.
"Atta girl." She replied as we turned into the parking lot. "Remember, I'm picking you up at 1:30."
"Yeah, yeah. I remember. Love you!" I said as I opened the door. Lindsey grabbed my arm before I could leave.
"Hey, if you get bothered by your dream at all today, feel free to send me a message, okay?" She asked. I nodded. Lindsey smiled and let go of my arm.
"Have a great day, Beth." Lindsey declared. I jumped out of the car and rushed into the school.
