The Darkness

The darkness is a hungry,
thrashing wolf
And I am it's next meal.
I run as fast as my weak legs
Will carry me
I wobble, but I get somewhere
I run run run
But then I fall.
I fall, snow and dirt
in my mouth.
Coughs and exasperation
deflate my lungs
As I shrink down.
I close my eyes and
Imagine that I'm okay.
It almost works.
Yes it almost works, but
Then I gasp In shock
And pain. I feel blood.
I feel the darkness
Pinning me down against
The cold floor.
I struggle to get up,
But it tells me to give up
And I listen.
I listen listen listen.
I am consumed and empty
And then he feeds
On his next victim.
