Everyone had already begun to pack their things, getting ready to leave the class most students seemed to hate. Eventually you were the last person in the room, besides good ol' Professor Snape of course (God forbid if he ever heard you call him as such...)! It didn't take long for the Professor to lift his head from his work and eye you up and down. "Miss Y/L/N." He drawled "WHAT exactly are you still doing in my classroom?" You turned hesitantly, looking into his dark eyes. "Well, Sir... To tell the truth, I'm not sure." You began to inch closer to his desk cautiously as he watched you intently. "Then I suggest that you take your leave." He said, pointing towards the door nonchalantly. "Well, I had something to sa-" The Professor cut you off with a sigh and said "Then say. it. I haven't got all day and I'm sure you're already LATE for your next class." "What I was GOING to say, Sir, was that I really appreciate all the hard wor-" He silenced you with a cold stare "Don't play games with me Miss Y/L/N. Do not take me for a fool." "I really was going to say that Sir. Use a spell if you'd like to check..." He grunted "Get on with it then" "Yes sir. What I was GOING to say, was that I really DO appreciate all the hard work that you put into your teaching. I-I struggle with school. I always have. And I'm sure you've noticed by the harsh grades I seem to receive." You paused and raised your eyebrows to accentuate your point. "Yes, quite." he said in reply. "But I-I just wanted you to know that my grades used to be a lot worse. Ever since I started going to your classes I feel more confident no matter HOW MUCH you try to TEAR ME DOWN." Snape drew his head back a bit and leaned into his chair, crossing his leg and folding his hands. He scoffed slightly, annoyed. "As you mentioned earlier, Professor, you're not a fool, but neither am I. I'm smart enough to see that even though this isn't your favourite thing in the world, you don't give up and you keep teaching. I'm smart enough to know that for some really weird reason that encourages ME too! I just thought you'd like to know..." You fiddled with your hands, trying not to cry and leave in a mood before one of the toughest professors in all of Hogwarts. Suddenly, he stood and walked around his desk, coming to a stop in front of you, towering high above your small frame. "Miss Y/L/N. While I don't understand your intentions, I do feel that I understand what you're trying to get across. I believe thanks are in order, however, your priorities are not. You're dangerously late to your next class and I have a sneaking suspicion that you're not going to leave..." You looked up at him and smirked. "As stubborn as we both seem to be, Professor, I don't think either of us will get what we want in the end!" Your smirk only grows but is soon replaced by a happy yet surprised expression as you see the corners of Snape's mouth twitch up into the smallest of smiles, if only for a split second. "Woooah... Professor..." You scoffed out of surprise "Did you just-" "Ah ah, not a word Miss Y/L/N..." You giggle "Not a word Professor!" "Now off to class with you!" Suddenly, you felt something slip into your hand. "Yes sir!" With that, you ran off to your next class, finally realising that the Professor (as annoying as he could be) had just given you a teachers note pardoning you from being late...
