“Hey Mckenna, pass me that book over there!” Jackson whisper yelled “Um-okay...” I said as I slid the book across the table and Jackson quickly stopped it, just before it fell off the edge of the table. My face started to turn red, and before it got any redder I grabbed all my papers ready to get up but just before I could leave, I heard Jackson say something behind me almost in a frantic tone. I took a deep breath and turned around. “Hey Mckenna?” he asked me, rubbing his neck a little “Yes, Jackson?” I asked nervously, wishing I acted like I didn’t hear him. “You forgot your book,” he pointed down to my version of Romeo and Juliet. “Oh thank you…” I mumbled then reached over slowly picking up my book I turned back around, almost running out of the Library but was able to contain myself until I rounded the corner and that’s when I bolted down the hallway careful not to get caught.I can’t believe that actually happened, I thought, he talked to me like we were friends, he must be up to something.
I shook my head immediately getting rid of any thoughts that might give me a shimmer of hope about the future. The next day at school, I was walking to my 1st class period, and stupidly I was reading and walking at the same time. When I finally looked up from my book, I realized that I was about to crash into Jackson Alexander, the most popular guy in school and also the guy that happened to be my sworn arch enemy. Just as I tried to stop myself from crashing into him, it had been too late. We were both already on the ground, our papers mixed up and scattered all over the place. Jackson, swearing and rubbing his forehead “ouch! Shit, what the h-” he stopped as he looked up to see what happened, realizing it was me who had crashed right into him. As we tried to get all of the papers together and back in place, I couldn’t help but look up, and gaze at Jackson's strong facial features, and his muscular arms, trying not to be obvious. “I-I’m so sorry Jackson, are you alright?!” I stuttered because I was so embarrassed, I could feel the warmth in my cheeks as they were turning the bright red color they do. Jackson looks like he’s gonna explode, but instead he says “Oh, I’m fine Mckenna, don’t worry about it.” Rubbing his forehead, he gets up. As he removes his hand from his forehead you can see the clean slice on his forehead indicating that he was injured. “Jackson, you're bleeding! Are you okay?” I heard someone run up from behind me, I turned to see who it was. My face was turning redder by the second and I knew I wouldn’t be able to control it if she was around me.
