Walking through the ruins of Impiorum my intuition was proved right. This was no accident much less a waste of my time. Passing by an arch I felt the amount of rage and power that passed by. My ink black wolf with bright blue eyes came to my side. He stands right above 5'6" and is all muscle built. Nox is no fool and much vulnerable to the power of demons. Nox brushed his nose against my palm reporting no Impiorum survivors.
"We were too late," I told him and Nox huffed knowingly. "They headed East meaning their next target is the Somnium people. Do you think the Knights will hold them off long enough?" I turned to Nox who bared his canines. "I didn't think so either, let's get moving."
We looked towards the mountains and I knew we didn't have much time. Either reach Somnium right before its doom or even worse we get their too late to save the King. If our enemies were powerful enough to wipe out an entire region with no survivors and still able to advance to another, I fear we may have more than underestimated this foe.
Nox turned his attention to our left and he growled with his hackles up. Easing his caution I walked towards the rustling and kicked a boulder off a building roof. Nox trotted over and sniffed out any signs of life. By the way he wasn't being vicious I knew it was Impiorum.
"Please don't!" A womanly cry sounded and Nox brought out a woman with a child in her arms. She was heavily damaged but her child was perfectly fine. "Why do you attack us?"
"I am not your enemy," I tried easing her pain but she screamed me away. "My name is Bo, I am the High Elder." I tried and she looked at me stunned. "I had felt Impiorum's distress;however, we were too late."
"My young princess!" She cried out to me and I placed my hand on her shoulder. "Please, my child." Nox howled lightly and I suddenly noticed that the child had no pulse. "I have no right to ask this of you but please transfer my life to my child, she deserves life." The woman was pleading me to exchange her life for the life of her daughter.
"You have every right to ask what you will and I shall do my very best to grant what you ask of me, do you truly wish for this?" I looked her in the eyes and she nodded with tears running down her face. "I feel regret? What is it you regret from this decision?"
"That I will not be able to see my young daughter grow to be a fine woman. To hold her in my arms when she cries or to see grandchildren. I am content, though, for I know she has been given my life so she can continue living." The woman handed me the young child and nodded. "Please do it my High Elder." She wiped away her tears and kissed her daughter. "Be good Acelia, you are the last Impiorum." I nodded and I did the exchange. Nox carefully set the woman down and buried her. The younger girl was breathing again.
As an Elder it is my duty to care after a child until the child is adopted. As a High Elder it is my sole purpose to raise a child given to me after the child is left as an orphan. Looking at the young girl I stare at her a bit worried. I checked her for injuries. While I checked I saw the crest of the Royal Impiorum family. She's the heir to the Impiorum. That means the woman was the Impiorum Queen. All mothers care for their children and will do anything to see them succeed but Impiorum mothers are even more so caring and loving. Their sanity is their children.
Setting the girl on Nox's back, we continued on our merry way to Somnium. The young girl will be danger if the enemy's goal was to wipe out all of Impiorum. I guess Nox and I will have to disappoint again. Nox was careful with the child for she, now, is my child.
The girl has dark brown hair and by the inheritance her eyes should be a bloody red. She was tiny like a girl but her power orb radiated much enthusiasm. I have ink black, wavy, soft hair that reaches just above my butt. My eyes are a deep mauve and I'm 5'4" tall, lean but fit. I am the High Elder.
