Damn it! I can't believe I'm late for my psych class again. I keep scolding myself as I hurry down the sidewalk. And of course I'm in my own world plugged into my headphones; i like to think it makes me walk faster. But maybe I should listen to my Dad and follow his advice and always keep one earbud out because right I'm doing my best impression of a deer caught in headlights as I watch a bus come straight at me that is until I get knocked on my ass by this moving wall. Well, I thought it was a wall, turns out it was a man that saved my life, not a moving wall. I should probably thank the good Samaritan now right?
"Thanks" I say as I try to catch my breath
"You're welcome. Maybe you should watch where you're walking next time"says the stranger as he helps me up off the ground. Strong hands, tan forearms, calloused hands. Mmm, wonder what he does for a living.
"Ya. I'll make sure to do that"
And that was the end of that. The handsome unnamed hero walked away and went about his business as if saving lives was such a mundane and daily task for him. I doubt I'll ever see him again. I mean the university is pretty huge and it's not like we have apps that let us track done a good looking stranger. Maybe someone will invent the technology for that one day.
Well at least I have a valid excuse for missing half of my psych class. The TA should be understanding and willing to give me a copy of today's notes once I tell her I was almost hit by a bus.
Getting back to my dorm room is like a sweet escape from the heat, over bearing professors, insane assignments and overly excited and annoying freshmen. I have a slight problem with patience... I don't really have any.
"Anything interesting happen today?" asks Maureen, my roommate of 4 years now. We were selected at random to room together and have been bound at the hip ever since.
"Not really. Oh! Almost got hit by a bus today but some stranger saved my life."
"Oh my god! Are you ok? Wait, was this hero guy hot by any chance?"
"Ya, I'm ok. I was just a little shook up. And ya, we was pretty good looking"
"Did you thank him... properly I mean? The way a hero deserves to be thanked?"
"Maureen, I swear you are so dirty minded. Someone needs to clean out that mind of yours, it's filled with nothing but filth. And yes, I did manage to say thank you before he sped off into the distance."
"You love my gloriously filthy mind and don't ever deny it. But hey, since you're not seeing this mystery guy anytime soon how about you and I go out on the prowl and try to find you a man, at least for tonight."
"I don't know Mo. I've had a hectic day almost getting run over an all that. I just want to curl up and go to bed. Well, curl up with lots of throws, eat Cherry ice cream and binge on some sitcoms."
"Aw, come on Alex! Don't be a sourpuss. I promise going out and enjoying some dancing will brighten up your day or night. Whatever. Come on!"
"Alright but you're paying for the ride there"
"Deal!"
