Nico POV:
"Or you could do the safe option and just use the mist like Hazel taught you," I suggested, and Percy rolled his eyes.
"Where's the fun in that Nico? Plus she didn't teach me well enough to conceal a whole car. Not to mention they probably have some tracking tech installed,"
I sighed, "Alright, but try not to get into too much trouble. They're already convinced you're a terrorist,"
"I promise nothing, just know that you better be ready to shadow travel,"
I sighed, he was really going to rely on me for a getaway ride? I was already tired from the other jumps today, but I suppose it isn't that far, so I nodded, and a wicked smile spread across his lips.Percy POV:
To hear Paul was detained by those agents was infuriating. Until I realised he's probably safer there rather than some cabin with two gods who will no doubt attract monsters. I just had to pray they wouldn't hurt him.
I glanced over at Nico, he looked less than impressed that I needed him as an escape route, but hey, if I flashed anywhere monsters would know where I went. It would pretty much give Tartarus a straight line to me, as he could read the magic residue.
I was still wondering which god would be sent to help me; I was kinda hoping for Athena. As much as she hates me, and as much as Hermes and Apollo don't, Athena would be the most help. That is assuming she wouldn't just leave no matter Zeus's orders.
I kept glancing over at the side mirror, looking for a suspicious car following me.
A few minutes later, I found it. There was someone following my every move, including when I pulled over next to a patch of grass.
I looked back at Nico, who had already scrambled into the backseat, and put a finger to my lips, but motioned for him to follow.
I pulled out riptide from my pocket, and Nico grabbed his sword and hid it behind his back.
He stepped out and melted instantly into the shadows, but I could feel his gaze. While I went and confronted the same redhead agent who was now standing nearby.
I could tell this was meant to be an ambush, so I smirked and leaned against the my car door, twirling riptide in my fingers.
She glared and took a few steps in my direction, so I spoke,
"So hey I never caught your name,"
Her glare intensified, though it wasn't really that scary or intimidating.
"And you're not going to get it," Redhead replied evenly.
"I'm just going to keep calling you Redhead then,"
"And why would you need my name? Who would you say it to?"
"Myself," I paused for effect, "And my stepdad, whom I've told you have detained," I raised an eyebrow with the statement.
She looked momentarily shocked that I knew, which was the only confirmation I needed that Nico's story was true, not that I doubted it in the first place.
"You won't get anything from him except wasted time. My mom knew everything,"
My plan sort of backfired. While I tried to trick her into a false lead, the mention of my mom almost sent me to tears, and I almost didn't pull myself together.
"Or we could just ask you," Redhead said, and lunged with a tranquiliser, it seems she doesn't remember those don't work.
I barely dodged, then uncapped riptide and swung, leaving her disarmed without ever showing that it wouldn't harm her. I then whirled around, spinning away from the knives she grabbed from some unknown pocket, and stopped behind her. I proceeded to kick Redhead in the back and send her to the ground. By now the other agents I didn't recongnise where running at me from their previous hiding spots, but I put my blade to her neck.
"Now, I don't really want to hurt Redhead too much, so why don't you just back off okay?"
They all had stunned expressions, like they didn't expect me to take down Redhead to easily, but didn't move, my glare told them I was serious. Then there was a small jolt of electricity, and I glanced down to see a tranquiliser thrown to my arm. I laughed a little.
"These are literally nothing compared to what a certain relative could do. And has done. Many times actually,"
I turned to the darkest shadow and grinned. Nico stepped out, a trace of a smile on his lips.
The other agents whipped their heads over to him and trained many guns at his head.
Nico simply strolled over to me, and put his hand on my arm, I felt us dissolving into the shadow of one of the cars I had made sure we were in. At the last moment I jumped; so Redhead didn't come too. Guns were re-aimed and shot, but by then we where gone.AN: Just letting you all know, this is either the second to last or last chapter until the 24th at the earliest, so double chapters! I'm going camping, therefore no wi-fi. However, I'll try to have another chapter ready to upload as soon as I can.
