I woke up at around 8 a.m. I got dressed and went on the hallway. Eva was in the kitchen.
I ran out and there they were. Papparazzi.
"Mrs. Jepsen, can you tell us something about your husband's injury?"
"No, thank you."
They followed me to the hospital. I went in and sat in the waiting hall. Dr. Nowak came out soon.
"Oh, Lena, hello. What are you doing here?"
His smile was honest and his brown eyes were warm. He was an older man but he was full of life. I smiled to him.
"I had an accident, I hurted my leg. Could you take a look?"
"Come in."
I sat on a chair and lifted my skirt.
"You'll be stuck with a bruise for a while, but we can prescribe a cream that will help. After two weeks you have to come so we make sure the vound is healing."
He cleaned the vound and handed me a prescription.
"So, how are you doing? How is married life?"
"Fine" I lied.
"That's nice. How is your grandpa?"
"He's fine. You know my Pa, always doing something."
He laughed.
"That's good at his age."
I stood up and shook his hand.
"Thank you, doctor."
He smiled.
"No problem. Have a nice day."
"You too."
I left and went to the pharmacy. I got my cream and went home. I locked myself back in the room.
Eva came knocking a few times but I told her to leave me alone. Mark called me a few times but I didn't answer. Screw you.
I took my bottle and drank from it, since I broke the glass. There were shattered pieces on the floor reminding me of what I had done. Eva was restless.
"Mrs. Jepsen, please open the door."
"No, I don't want to see anyone."
"I brought you breakfast."
At the very thought of food I felt noscious.
"No! Leave me alone I said."
"As you wish."
She left and I laid on the bed with my Southern Comfort.
I want to be alone to figure out what I want. Maybe that trip isn't such a bad idea. The change will do me good.
Anna called me.
"Hello?"
"Hey."
I laughed.
"Hey."
"Are you drunk again?"
"Maybe" I laughed again and she sighed.
"I thought about what you said. We should go on that trip to Barcelona."
I heard her clapping.
"Good choice, dear. I can't wait. I'll book us the flight and hotel rooms."
She was excited.
"Two weeks from now, I have to go see my doctor first."
"I saw in the newspaper. Are you okay?"
