"Dude, it's time to wake up" says York as he throws open the curtains.
"Five more minutes..." Otto replies, blatantly lying.
"No, now" York retorts, "At this time everyday, humans and monsters go to work, for you, their children learn from books that your company makes, they workout in gyms your company built, and they communicate with each other on devices your company produces. You could at least show up to take pictures with your fans, or open a store or two."
"Good lord, you sound so corny" Growled Otto as he stretched
"I can't believe I say that everyday" answered York, as he gazed out the window "it's like we're some kind of anime..."
"Are you feeling okay?" Otto questioned his bodyguard, "Never mind, what's for breakfast?"
"I believe it waffles" York replied.
"Oh man, you got me excited now" Otto mocked as he walked into his closet.
What should I wear today? Maybe my vest, with uh... um... these!
"You sure you're gonna wear those pants today?" York questioned as he walked out of Otto's room with a load of dirty clothes under his arm.
Otto looked down, and tried to hide his underwear from peeking out of his cut pants.
"Bionic!" Otto roared up the stairs that led from the kitchen to the guestrooms. He heard loud laughter echoing from one of the rooms.
"Looks like someone wants their WiFi turned off!" Otto yelled, looking above to the balcony. York chuckled as he heard stomping approach. Otto walked around the central island, about to toast a handful of waffles as he saw a shadow float above him. Otto froze as he heard a crash right next to him. There stood a cyborg fox furry, the artificial right eye glowing red with rage.
"You do that, and they'll never find your body!" Bionic growled
"Nice job, Edge Lord" York snorted, "You cracked the floor again"
"Shut up, York" Bionic replied
"Alright, let's play a game. Everybody who pays the bills can talk, everybody else shuts their faces," Otto said, as he sat on the counter between the toaster and the sink.
"Yes, sorry" York said
"Sorry," Bionic replied
"Ah, what did I just say?" Otto said as he walked off the edge of the kitchen onto the couch with a plate full of waffles.
"Anyway, let's see if the TV works, again" Otto said to himself as he wiggled into his spot on the couch. Bionic attempted to flip onto the couch, but missed and landed face first onto the floor. York walked to the utility room to drop off the clothes in washing machine.
"TV on" Otto said to the remote. The floor opened to reveal a massive flat screen. York walked up the staircase to the kitchen, slowly taking out different foods, and began placing them on different parts of the counter. He then continued up the staircase to the guestrooms, quietly opening doors, one by one. Out of the first room ran a light blue blur, skidding to a stop in front of the farthest part of the counter away from the stairs. The blur grabbed a handful of pancakes, then took off up the wall. It almost reached the door, but York grabbed it near top of it head, and threw it onto the couch. It hit the couch with enough force to throw Otto into the air.
"Sup, dude" said the blur as it slowed down enough to stop vibrating the couch. It's features then became clear. It was a skeleton, with a mohawk that was every shade of blue, wearing a mask and a light blue hoodie, which almost completely covered its black jogging shorts. It wore dark grey slippers on it's boney feet, which were always shaking.
"Sup Nate" said Otto, as he handed him a waffle. York put his head next to the second door, trying to listen. He then quickly opened the door, and stood behind it as a wave of light grey goo splashed through , colliding against the opposite wall. It then slowly crept towards the edge of the balcony and began to stretch out a small tendril to grab a pile of magazines and box of cereal. York promptly kicked the main body of it off the balcony, where it hit the floor with a sickening smack. The blob slowly began piling up on top of itself till the stack of goo was about 6' tall. It than began to stretch and bend until it took a humanoid shape.
"Ow, that hurts, you know!" Yelled the slime as his body slowly became more defined. He was wearing a light grey hoodie with black sleeves and a black hood. His legs became more thick as black jeans slowly replaced his skin.
"Curt, we all know you're lying!" York yelled down the hall.
"Well, he got me," Curt said to Otto, as his arm snuck under the couch to grab a waffle from the plate. York walked to the last door on the right side, and knocked before opening it. He was pushed back as a giant golden bear, which roared then charged off the balcony, spinning midair while spinning, and landing as a 7' tall man wearing a dull red hoodie and a pair of jeans.
"Ta dah!" He said as he turned around to look at his audience.
"Not really that impressive Ty," murmured Otto as he continued to watch the news. Everyone murmured some form of agreement.
"Jerks," Tyler said as he grabbed a bucket of bacon. He then jumped over the island and landed on the couch. York opened the first door on the left, only to hear a guttural roar saying, "Get out!"
"Sorry, sir. It won't happen again." York said as he caught a flying lamp. He closed the door, and walked to the next room. A shadow slowly drifted out from under the door and slid down the wall to the kitchen. The lights above the counter flickered along with the stove top's overhead lights. A bag of McDonald's was quietly enveloped with shadows. The bag slowly sunk into the darkness. The shadow retreated to the door it came from. York punched the floor, reached into the center of shadow, grabbed something, and pulled up. York held a ball of darkness, which slowly twisted and stretched into a curled being. It's head had a curly mess of black hair, wearing a dark grey trench coat. It had a cloud of mist blocking any view of any type of legs to support itself.
"Hello, York" said the shadowy figure.
"You know the rules, Raymond. No eating in your room," scolded York, as he carried Raymond to the couch. As York passed by the kitchen, he grabbed a plate full of chicken wings and huge mug of mead. He then sat on the couch with everyone else, watching TV.
"Everyone, I should let you all know that we will be having a guest at dinner.
And the guest and I will be talking to them in my office as soon as they arrive. So everyone be on your best behavior. Otherwise, no more WiFi, no more McDonald's, no more pancakes, no more manga, no more bacon, and no more mead. Got that?" Otto ordered
"Yes, sir" was the group reply.
Otto then shut off the TV, grabbed everybody's dishes and threw them in the sink. One by one, everyone got off the couch and grabbed their bags and left. He grabbed his phone and played his cleaning music. He scrubbed the plates, cups, and the knives. He turned on the washing machine and walked to his closet and changed to his dark grey suit. He quickly left to the elevator and went to the ground floor. Otto walked past the front desk and waved to the centaur doorman.
"How's it going, Bradley?" Otto asked, totally distracted.
"It's going well, Mr. Kurusu," Replied Bradley. He smiled as Otto handed him a huge pile of hundreds.
"And it keeps getting better..." Bradley whispered under his breathe. Otto walked out the doors and headed to the nearest limousine.
"Anywhere special today, sir?" Asked the limo's lizard man driver.
"Nope, just the usual, Jon. But you could raise your pay if can get me there faster" Otto said as he got into the backseat.
"Higher than 500 grand a week? You got to be crazy!" Jon said as he climbed into the driver's seat.
"Not crazy, just wealthy. Well, maybe a little crazy," Otto said as he buckled up. He was blasted back with a sudden burst of speed. He slowly pried himself from the seat, only to hear his phone ringing. He answered his phone and immediately pulls it away from his ear as heard a loud high pitched scream on the other side of the phone.
"Hi, Diia" giggled Otto.
"Hi, Otto! Thanks for the gift! I love it!" Shouted Otto's 5 year old sister.
"I know you would, that's why I bought it. Anyway, can I talk to Mom?" Otto asked, as he looked out the window.
"Sure, one second... Mom! It's Otto! He wants to talk! She'll be on in a second," Yelled Diia. Otto waited as his sister ran the phone to his mother.
"Hello?" Asked the voice from the phone.
"Hello, Mother" Otto answered.
"Oh, hello Otto! How's the business? Did you brush your teeth? Did you watch the news? Did you meet anyone special yet?" Asked his mother, clearly wondering.
"Okay, good, yes, yes, no, but I was wondering if you or dad needed anything. I'm going to go shopping, so I was making a list of stuff that was needed" Otto replied
"No, I don't think we need anything. I will ask your father." She said.
Otto barely heard his mother talking to his father. She then returned to the phone.
"Your father says we have enough to last a couple of years, but he wanted to talk to you."
"Okay, put him on." Otto said, reluctantly. Thee was a muffled sound as the phone was handed from one person to another.
"Hello, son. How is everyone over there?" Asked Otto's father.
"They are doing well, no accidents so far. Just harmless pranks. But, anyway, how are my aunts?"
"Ha, there's my little Ottie. Always caring about everyone." His father chuckled.
"Like father, like son!" Otto heard his mother yell.
"But, in all seriousness, how is everybody. Like, how's Aunt Suu? Or Aunt Papi? Or even Aunt Manako?" Otto questioned.
"Everybody's fine. Everyone's happy. And thank you for upgrading the house, and telling me about it!" Otto's father yelled.
"You needed more rooms!" Yelled Mrs. Smith, or who Otto assumed was Mrs. Smith.
"Anyway, I need to go, I'm at work. Goodbye" Otto said as he unbuckled himself from his seat.
"Okay, goodbye." Otto's father said. Otto got out of the limo, and threw a stack of cash into the driver's window. He walked up the stairs to the front doors. He waved at the Lamia secretary at the front desk. She blushed and waved back. The elevator doorman chuckled.
"How do you do that? He asked.
"It's a gift, Aaron" Otto replied. He exited the elevator and walked to his office. He waved to his secretary. He opened the door and went behind his desk. He sat down and leaned back. He closed his eyes.
"You have your meeting right now."
Otto fell out of his chair, looked around and spotted someone pouring two glasses of Scotch from his private bar.
"Jesus, Douglas, stop scaring me! And use the door next time!" Otto ridiculed the horned figure in the shadows. Douglas stepped out of the darkness, helped Otto up and handed him a glass. Otto downed the glass and put the glass on his desk.
"Dougie, can I hitch a ride to the meeting room?" Otto asked.
"Sure, just don't mess up the suit" Douglas replied.
Otto laid a hand on Douglas's shoulder. They slowly sunk into the floor.
"When are they going to be here?" Asked Nate.
"I don't actually know," said York.
"Uh huh," replied Bionic, Raymond, and Curt as they gazed a magazine that would make Master Roshi ashamed.
"Where did you get that?" Douglas asked, as he rose from the floor.
"Curt, I thought I told you to keep those in your room. And Bionic, you know you automatically connect to the WiFi, so you should know that we are monitoring your thoughts and actions. I bet the tech support guys are getting an eyeful." Otto scolded. He pulled his phone out and looked at the text message: Thx alot Boss, It was just gettin' interesting!
"Anyway, why did you guys want this meeting? If it's because Bionic is too loud when he records, talk to him about it."
"No, it's not that," said York
"You mighty want to take a seat," ordered Douglas
"Well, first, screw you too, second, you are our best friend and you've been acting weird lately. And it's not because of the full moon, because we are monsters and you're not." Bionic added.
"Before we continue, I say you playfully slap our shoulders." Nate said. Otto went around the room, smacking everyone's shoulders, but slapped Curt as he walked past.
"Well, we decide to sign you up on a dating site!" Raymond said as he sunk into the floor. Everyone tried to shield themselves from Otto, but it didn't help. Otto's secretary walked past the meeting room, looked in, and stood, frozen, watching as Otto attempted to strangle Bionic while York tried to pull his head out of the wall. Raymond was trying to free himself from Nate's ribcage. Tyler was trying to untie Curt from around Nate's arms, which was difficult when Tyler's foot was stuck in Nate's jaw, and his other was stuck in Nate's pelvic bone. Otto stopped trying to kill everyone, straightened his suit and calmly walked out of the room. He returned to his office, where he sat, thinking about his companions' caring thoughts about his welfare for the rest of the day. When Otto returned home, he sat down on the couch and watched TV. He was watching Bar Rescue when he noticed the episode's special cooking mentor was Tyler. Otto changed the channel, He saw Bionic on MTV, Doug on the local news, and Raymond on the movie channel.
"Guess I'm not watching anything right now," Otto said. He checked his watch, 5:15. Otto walked over to his piano, closed his eyes, and started playing.
"York should be home soon," Otto mumbled. Right on cue, York stepped out of the elevator. York quietly tried to sneak up the stairs.
"I know your there, don't try to sneak up the stairs," Otto told York. Otto finished playing the piano, turned around and looked at his bodyguard.
"Do you guys seriously think that I'm acting weird?" Otto interrogated him, clearly worried.
"Well, um, ah, uh..." York stuttered. Otto looked at him, waiting patiently for an answer.
"Or do you think that something's wrong with me emotionally?" Otto added. He had York trapped now. York could either answered or lied, which Otto could tell the latter. Instead, York froze and stayed silent till everyone got home an hour later. Otto stared at him for the hour, unfazed. The elevator opened, releasing Curt and Raymond. They spilled out of the hallway and froze when they say York standing absolutely still and Otto looking at his face. They slowly backed away from the kitchen, when someone grabbed them by the back of their necks and pushed them into the kitchen.
"Thank you, Douglas," Otto said, without diverting his eyes away from his frozen prey.
"Just let me know if the others try to escape," Douglas said as he sunk into floor. Raymond and Curt sat at the counter, slowly twiddling their thumbs.
Tyler exited the elevator, walked out of the hallway and looked at York.
"We're screwed, aren't we?" Tyler asked.
"Yup," answered Curt and Raymond. Tyler laid on the couch, and began eating his collar. Bionic returned a few minutes later.
"why are you late?" Otto asked, with moving his eyes.
"Tyler pushed all the buttons when he saw me walking to the elevator," answered Bionic.
"Fucking hilarious that's what that is!" Tyler laughed.
He quickly sat on the other side of the couch from Tyler. The door leading to the balcony opened and Nate floated in to the house on a dragon-like skull.
"Good, you're all here," Otto said as Nate stepped off the skull onto the floor.
"You can all sit on the couch, or you could run. I dare you to do the latter, if you want to have a bad time," Otto ordered, as he walked to where the TV rises out of the floor. Everyone quickly sat on the couch, staring in fear at the terrifying being that was standing in front of them.
"I called this meeting because your concerns about me were completely unnatural for all of you. You all scared me. You guys shouldn't worry about me. It's my job to worry about you. I am all of your host family. I'm not as lonely as you think I am, so I don't need somebody else to care for. I'm completely happy just taking care of you guys. The second order of business is that I'm going shopping and wanted to know if anyone needed anything special. I know I need new pants, thanks to Bionic. I also need a new barrel of mead, some new speakers, a couple tons of bacon, gift cards for Crunchy Roll, and a couple floor tiles, thanks again to Bionic. Anyone want to come with?" Otto stated. The elevator dinged as it opened, as the rider into the room.
"Ah, our special guest has arrived! Welcome back!" Otto greeted.
"No way," Nate said.
"I thought..." Raymond responded.
"Oh, no" Bionic whimpered
"Hello everyone!" Mrs. Smith greeted everyone.
"Hello," said Douglas
"Greetings," responded Tyler.
"Hi!" Laughed Curt.
York stood up, walked to Mrs. Smith, and picked her up. He wrapped the tiny woman in his arms with a tight hug.
"Hello, Mother."
