The metal gate creaked open at Erins touch, revealing the long paved drive way. The two found their spots back in the car pulled up ahead, past the gate. Evelyn got out once more, closing the gate behind them. The mother and daughter duo made their way up the drive way, the tall trees no longer blocking their view.

In front of them stood a large, white , Victorian style house. The windows of the home glistened slightly in the afternoon sun, a small wind chime hanging from the front porch chimes quietly in the breeze.

"This is amazing, Mom." Evelyn said, leaning forward against the dashboard getting a better look. "How can we afford this?"

"This place belongs to your great aunt, she left it to us in the will. I never thought we'd get the chance to actually see it." Erin smiled. Sliding out of the car once more, Evelyn hopped up the porch steps. The girl stopped and looked down at her feet after hearing a creak in the old wood.

"Is this place gonna fall apart?"

"Who knows?" Erin sneered, throwing her hands up.

Evelyn turned to her left, walking down the porch. Her hand slid gently across the fence, paint chips falling onto the ground. She walked down the length of the porch, it went along the outside of the entire house.

"How come you never mentioned this place, we could have came here much sooner." Evelyn mumbled once she approached her mother after circling the house. Erin gripped the handle of the door, sliding the key in. She turned the key, pressing the black door open.

"Your father hated the thought of this place."

The duo stood in the doorway, peering inside the large house. Directly in front of them was a set of stairs going up to the second floor of the home. Evelyn and Erin stepped in at the same time, their shoulders bumping against each other and the door frame. Evelyn giggled, squeezing past her mother. To her left was the living room, furniture was scattered across the room, draped in white sheets. Evelyn tugged on one of the curtains hanging from the window. Light filled the room, dust floating in the air. Erin stepped past her daughter, yanking the sheet off one of the couches. She coughed as dust flew up into her face, her hand swatting the dust away.

"Lovely" Erin spat, her lips curling up slightly. Evelyn swooped in front of her mother, plopping herself onto the grey, linen couch. Erin found her spot beside Evelyn, looking around the living room. Her arm snaked it's way around her daughters shoulder, pulling her closer. Evelyn looked towards her left, smiling at her mother. Her green eyes lowered to an empty spot past Erin. The grey couch was meant for three...

"I miss him." Evelyn thought, thinking of her father. Things weren't going great the last time they seen him. She lifted her head, staring up at the white ceiling. Above her was an circular light fixture, a piece of glass missing from it.

"That looks like a boob..." Evelyn giggled, nudging her mom. Erin looked up at the broken light fixture, sneering.

Evelyn groaned, sliding the cardboard box across the wooden floor as she leaned over the top of the stairs. She pulled herself up the stairs, stretching her arms as she did. The girl looked around the third floor, she had been given the whole floor to herself since the two had nothing to necessarily fill it with. Evelyn turned slowly, eyeing the floral wallpaper peeling slightly from the wall of the hallway . She slid her hand gently down the wall, a quiet sigh escaping her lips. The third floor was split in two, a hall way separating two large rooms. Each side of the floor had some sort of tower attached, Evelyn was eager to turn hers into a book nook. Her hands gripped the side of the cardboard box, carrying it towards her room on the right of the hallway. She slipped her hand around the round door knob, gently twisting it open. Before her was a large room, it contained a large dresser, a wardrobe, a chesterfield couch, a standing mirror and a Victorian style bed. Evelyn rushed over to the bed, setting the box down on the plastic wrapped mattress. She gripped onto the white, metal bed frame and shook it, a faint squeak being heard.

"At least now I'll know when you have a boy over" A voice behind Evelyn caused her to jump slightly. She turned sighing as she seen her mother leaning in the doorway . She sneered stepping into her daughters room, a box belonging to Evelyn in her hands.

"Funny" Evelyn mumbled, staring down at her feet before scooting over to make room for the new box about to placed on her bed. The bed made another squeaking noise as Erin lowered the box onto the bed. The woman walked towards the other side of the bed, looking at the window in front of her. She ran her fingers down the white, transparent curtains gently tugging them open.

"Nice view." Erin said quietly , tucking some of her brown hair behind her ear. Evelyn stood, hearing the crinkling of the plastic mattress and the squeaking of the bed as she stood. Making her way beside her mother, she crossed her arms as the two stared out the window. Her mother was right, the view was nice. The window beside her bed had a nearly clear view of the cove. She could see the large waves crashing against the bottom of the cliff on the far edge of the cove. The blue sky had been quickly replaced by a grey one .

"We should get the rest of the stuff out of the car..." Evelyn stated "It's going to rain pretty bad apparently."

"Yeah" Erin said, turning on her heel. Evelyn did the same , the two marching their way down the stairs and out the door towards the car.
