MY 👏 NEW 👏FAVORITE 👏 CHAPTER

"Castiel Novak."

Cas stepped forward and handed his pass to the officer at the desk. "Weird name." The officer muttered under his breath, something Cas chose to ignore. "Enjoy it, you won't be getting many more of these." He said, handing the pass back over. Cas made a sort of attempt at a salute, which was promptly ignored.

Dean met him outside, waving his pass. "What're you planning to do?" He asked, flashing his green eyes in Cas' direction.

"I'm not sure... I-"

"Some of the boys and me are going to see if we can find some girls to dance with, you wanna come along?"

Cas shrugged. "Why not."

Dean grinned like a little kid and threw his arm over Cas' shoulders. "Technically it isn't cheating on Meg. Well, not unless something happens. But you never have to tell her, now, do you?" He looked up at the sky, closing his eyes and bathing in the sunlight. He smiled a little.

"You don't have to worry about anything happening, Dean." It was the truth. Nothing in Cas' life would ever 'happen', not as long as Dean Winchester was in it.

"Well that's no way to think. You gotta get an adventure in before you get married!"

Cas laughed halfheartedly. "Sure."

* * * * *
The bar was loud, louder than Cas would have liked. He stood by the bar, an untouched bottle of beer next to his hand. The air was hazy from cigarette smoke, and it smelled like spilled alcohol. Cas would rather be anywhere else at the moment, but it was too crowded to find the exit.

Loud swing music played, and the dance floor was packed. Dean was at the center, dancing with the prettiest girl there.

'Figures.' Cas grimaced a little, keeping his eyes on the pair. The girl had chocolate brown hair, bright blue eyes, and the biggest smile on her face. Her eyes kept flashing to some of the girls around her, laughing and throwing her head back. She was flaunting the fact that she was dancing with Dean. For some reason, that bothered Cas more than it should.

She leaned in close, whispering something in Dean's ear, then flouncing off. Dean looked back in Cas' direction, and Cas averted his eyes as fast as he could, his face growing hot. Staring was weird. He was weird.

Dean sidled up next to Cas, ordering a beer and drinking half the contents. "You're looking awful lonely over here, Cas. Why don't you ask someone to dance?"

'Because I want to dance with you, idiot.' He wanted to snap. Instead, he just shrugged a little.

A smile slowly grew across Dean's face, and he tilted his head a little. "Castiel Novak," his voice was incredulous, "Do you even know how to dance?"

Cas hesitated, then spoke the truth. "No."

"Well, someone has to teach you. It'll be an embarrassment if you mess up your first dance at your wedding. Come on." Dean grabbed his hand and led him through the crowd, towards the door.

"Dean."

No answer.

"Dean."

"Yeah?"

"The dance floor's that way."

"The dance floor's too crowded, Cas."

"Don't we need dance partners or something?"

They were outside now, music following them out the open door. The air was warm, and the stars were out. The chattering of voices faded, leaving only Cas, Dean, and the music.

Dean turned, light catching in his eyes. "We don't need 'em."

The upbeat swing music faded out, and the first notes of And The Angels Sing wafted through the air.

"So first you put your hand here." Dean wrapped his arm around Cas' back, and heat rose in his cheeks.

We meet, and the angels sing

"Then you hold hands here." He took Cas' free hand.

The angels sing the sweetest song I've ever heard

"And then you just..." He started swaying to the music a little, and Cas followed suit. Their noses were just a few inches  apart.

You smile, and the angels sing

Dean looked down, smiling a little.

And though it's just a gentle murmur at the start

Dean pulled Cas a little closer as the music went on.

"Hey Cas?"

"Yeah?" Cas looked up into Dean's green eyes.

"Don't kill me."

"Wh-"

Dean's lips met his, and time stopped.

We kiss, and the angels sing

Dean's arms wrapped around Cas, pulling him closer. Cas tangled his fingers in Dean's hair.

It was perfect

But then it was over.

"I'm sorry Cas. I shouldn't have..." Dean was backing away, his hair a mess and his eyes bleary.

"Dean, wait, I-"

He was already gone.

And leave their music ringing in my heart
