Phone call

It was the ride home when we got the phone call. It was on Jake's old phone.
We were in the car driving back when I heard the familiar song that played when someone was calling me.
I looked at the screen which lit up with a number that had been kept private by the caller.
'I don't wanna answer it' i said9.
'Give it here' Logan said gesturing for me to give it to him. He took it then put the call on loud speaker.
'Hello who is this' Logan asked everyone listening intently.
'You don't need to know' the voice replied it was male. ' I need to speak to Everest.'
I must of looked scared because Emilio grabbed my hand.
Logan put the phone on mute for a second.
'Everest you speak to them but keep it on loud speaker and everyone else keep quiet so we can hear.
I took the phone from Logan my hand trembling as it cut through the air.
I took it off mute.
'Hello' I said trying not to sound nervous.
'Oh hey Everest you've been going through a lot lately' the voice said in a husky tone.
'Yeah' I said pausing and taking a deep breath.
'We'll do you ever think why you went through all this, maybe something to do with something you've done' the voice replied.
'I don't know' i said my voice wavering and my hands shaking until I could barely hold the phone.
' ha' the voice laughed 'you've always been a bit dumb haven't you'
I gulped. And looked up at Logan.
'What do I do?' I mouthed to him.
'Keep talking' he mouthed back 'ask him what he means'
'What do you mean' I replied 'What have i done'
'After all this time and you seriously don't know, is that why you moved in with your brother so he can protect you, I always new you were weak and easily frightened'
'Please just tell me what I've done I'm really sorry for whatever it is but I really don't know' i said confused.
'We'll I guess you need to work that out for yourself don't worry I will give you clues' he said and ended the call.
I looked up at all the eyes that were staring at me.
' that was super weird' Tristan said breaking the silence.
' Yeah that was seriously weird' I said looking at Logan.
He looked at me reassuringly.
'He said something about clues.' Logan said turning to everyone ' this is kinda like a mystery who's in to try and solve it.' He put his hand on the middle and I put my hand on top of his.
'I'm in' Everyone said and placed their hands on top of ours.
I smiled at Jake and Logan and they  smiled back.
'We're gonna get through this together ' Jake mouthed to me.
Jake had pulled over on the side of the road so we could all listen to the phone call.
My phone buzzed:
' Your brothers didn't know but you knew for definite?'
I read it aloud and then looked up everybody looked as confused as I felt.
'What do I know but you don't?' I said looking at Jake and Logan in particular.
Then I remembered the only thing I'd never told Logan and Jake was when I did fitness training and Rugby. Me and this boy from my Grade used to hit the gym together just as friends but we were really close. Bitt then something happened and we never talked again. I never told my brothers because I'm a girly girl and I thought they'd make fun of me. But that can't be it that has nothing to do with anything.
'Everest what is it i can tell you've thought of something' Logan said.
' Oh it's nothing' I said ' i just remembered something weird I didn't tell you'
'Everest just tell us even if it sounds stupid it could be a really valuable clue' Jake Said.
' Wait a sec you actually have secrets, I thought you told us everything' Logan said.
I laughed. Was he being serious?!
'Well what is it' Tristan said.
'Well uh when I went to school back in Ohio me and this kid used to hit the gym together and I was on the boys rugby team...' I said. There was a silence.
'Wait so first of all can we clarify this friend was female' Logan asked.
'Ummmm he was male' I said laughing.
'Excuse me so you two worked out together' Logan said looking gob smacked at me 'but all you did was work out nothing else.'
'Shut up' I said 'you're embarrassing me, anyway that has got nothing to do with anything'
Jake snapped his fingers.
' but it has, Logan do you remember you got bullied in that school for being a vlogger...'
Before he could finish talking I cut him off.
'But how could anyone ever find out we were always alone in that gym, it was just me him and his older brother...' I said pausing.
'We'll anyway we can figure that out on the way home, for now I'm tired so we can all go home and sleep on it' Jake Said.
'Ha you sound like mum' I said ' she always used to say 'sleep on it''
Jake laughed ' good morning pamily it's your girl Pam ' he said pretending to be our mum.
Everyone sniggered at him.
He got back in the drivers seat and we drove back to the Team 10 house.
