well,things didnt feel right at all from that day april didnt laugh anymore she just read books most of the day she kept her conversation to the minimum and polite,all her friends spoke to her in hushed tones and she just kept nodding her head,i hated to see her like this i bet its because of the stupid boyfriend of hers whatever his name was.if i just get my hands on him i thought stabbing my fork in my pasta."dude chill"shane said wiping the sauce off his face.the insane sight brought me back into reality."what are you thinking about so seriously anyway?"austin asked biting into his apple."nothing"i shrugged."by any chance could it be about april?"he asked casually,and my blood ran cold.i didnt tell anyone about this how in the world did he know?am i that noticeable,or maybe he is just taking a wild guess."no no why would u think that?"i asked feigning outrageous."enough dude we know it u have been acting weird ever since she and max fought you have been distracted and downright angry."austin said seriously.shit this has gone out of hand,sensing my silence shane continued"so this thing with april?is it serious?" okay so there is no going back,i shrugged"i dunno"i confessed."why didnt you tell us?"austin asked.i cleared my throat"well,guys you see this is not what it seems like.i barely know her and besides she has a boyfriend and also its barely been months since i came here so i just thought....."i shrugged again unable to find more words to save the sinking ship.they both just nodded"ok,although i think you are highly weird,but then again who isnt?"shane laughed.austin just chose to remain silent.did he actually have feelings for april?is that why he kept silent?
"yo bro"i call out to Austin as i run to catch up with him on the sidewalk,"what?"he asks."just you know about the incident in the cafeteria"i started "its cool"he cut me off."i was just curious,do you by any chance have any feelings for april?"i asked to get it off my chest.he stopped in his tracks,he looked at me funnily"does it look like i have anything for her?"he asked smirking."no its just that you were so silent all day long after that incident that i just assumed you know"i stopped gauging his reaction."no pal,thats not the reason i was silent i was just silent because i just thought it very weird for someone to be having feelings without actually knowing that person but then again as Shane said who isnt weird?"he said sadly and i got the feeling he was actually talking about himself.i remained silent not really sure how to respond to that. Austin shook off his mood "say wanna hang out this weekend?we will celebrate your first crush?"he teased.i winced and nodded well at least he was back to normal.
the next morning started with a bang.no literally a bang as someone got pushed against the locker."you think it is funny?i told you not to mess with my things"the voice bellowed down the hallway and soon a crowd began to gather around the commotion and at this moment we three were pushing through the crowd to get a view only to find max and April in the center of it all.
My blood ran cold twice in less than 24 hours.
