His voice was deep and raspy. His shaggy blonde hair covered one of his bright blue eyes that stared at me intensely. His hoodie covered up most of his features.
He held Medra by her mouth and put a bloody knife to her throat.
I froze at the site. My hands were shaking as I clenched my phone in my hands.
"Set the phone down..." His voice was calm yet demanding.
I set my phone down on the ground that was next to my baseball bat.
What do I do? I could grab the bat, but there would be no doubt he would see it. He would kill Medra by the time I could hit him. But I cant just sit around and do nothing.
Out of instinct, I pick up the bat, but a hand grabbed my wrist. I look up to see Roland. His face was pained.
" Dont." He whispered in my ear.
Roland stands to his feet, taking the bat with him. He rested it on his shoulder as he spoke.
" There not part of this." Roland stood tall. But his leg was bleeding out.
" Shut up Roy." The man said. His eyes shifted from me to Roland.
Medra, rapped in the mans tight grip, started to cry.
My heart tugged at the sight. Tears filled my eyes.
"I promise that they wont do anything if you let them go." Roland said.
The man thought about it but then tightened his grip on Medras neck. "You're lying. You dont even know them do you?"
"I do. I'll keep them out of this." His eyes glared at the mans.
He hesitates then pushes Medra towards Roland and starts walking away. "If you break your promise..." He stops, then storms off.
Medra fell to the ground next to me and sobbed. She covered her face with her hands.
I sit on the grass, frozen. Not an inch in my body would move.
"Come."
Roland extended his hand towards Medra then me. He walks us to his car and drives us to my home.
Medra still held Rolands glasses in her hands. I study her to make sure she wasn't hurt. She looks okay.
Roland got out of the car and went to my door. He opened it and I got out. Then he did the same for Medra.
He walks us to the front door and asks. " Are you guys okay?"
Medra didn't say anything but she nodded. Then she went inside without another word.
He watches her leave, then looks me in the eyes. "Are you okay?"
His voice sounded pained. I look down at his leg. He was trembling and bleeding.Reality hit me and I spoke. "Your leg... you're hurt." I pointed out.
He looks down to his wound then back at me. " It's fine. Are you alright?"
I nod. Theres a painful knot in my throat.
"W-who... was he?" I mubble. I said it so quiet that I didnt even know if I said it at all.
He frowns at my question. Clearly he didn't want to talk about it.
" He-... I can't... really say anything." He looks away from me, out into the night sky. " Its late. You shoud sleep."
I glance towards the front door then back at Roland. He had already walked to his car.
