A/N: So sorry for the long wait, spring break and all. Thanks for the support guys, keep it up!
I watch the initiates closely at dinner, but without being too weird, hopefully. There seems to be a strong bond between the 3 Candor. A girl and two boys. They seems to rotate around the smaller one, the one who has a sly smile. It should be charming. But something feels off. The Stiff sits by the dark haired Candor girl, and one of the Erudite boys. The huge Candor one lingers by them as well. The last two, both Erudite, are obviously together. Who knows? It could last. Certainly did for me. Well, so far, I think, almost regretfully. I really don't know what's happening between Zeke and I. All I know is that if we do make it through this, we'll be together for a very, very long time.
We gather them up again after the meal, to make sure we actually know their names before tomorrow starts. Despite how little I think Four actually cares, we have to. Mostly due to Eric. He likes us to bark orders at them. And that is best accomplished when you know their names. "Alright, roll call. What are your names?" I ask, figuring I should get more involved. Four stands in his usual pose, arms crossed and face grim. I remember thinking he resembled a statue. Funny how someone can be so different around friends. "Christina." The Candor girl by Tris speaks first. "Al." The giant boy says. "Will." "Tris." "I'm Edward. This is Myra." The Erudite couple. Apparently she can't speak for herself. Doesn't bode well in Dauntless. "Drew, Molly. And I'm Peter." The charismatic Candor boy says, a white toothed smile on his face. Something about it makes me squirm. I nod. "Great." Four sighs "Now that we are done with the get to know you activities, lets get to the point. I want to see you all on the tracks at 7am tomorrow. We start early, we go all day. Don't be late, or you miss the train. If you miss the train, you're done. Understand?" They nod slowly, looking a bit frightened. That really has to stop. "Hey!" I yell, causing some of them to jump. "I want you to keep your heads up when we talk. I want you to nod in confidence and not in fear." I say, looking at a few in particular. They nod more firmly this time, and I smile slightly "That's better. We don't take kindly to hesitation here. You walk into everything like you own the place." Four smirks slightly "But don't get too cocky. The Dauntless-borne will take you down a notch." I nod. "Burn your old clothes on the way out. I'll see you tomorrow morning. And don't worry; there will be a wake-up call." He continues, a bit evil sounding. But I don't see one flinch. Smile. They're learning quickly.
Four comes by at 6 to walk down to the dorms. I'm already ready, of course, but I want to see them freak out when Four does his wake up call. It's more like chaos than a gentle alarm clock. I kiss Zeke lightly as I walk out, joining Four in the hallway. "You ready?" he asks. I nod "As I'll ever be." I know this is when the hard part starts. Finding the Divergent and making sure Eric doesn't do the same. But that's our job. So I'd better get good at it.
We walk down to the transfer's door, already smirking. Four holding a frying pan and a metal spoon in his hands, and I have a huge bucket of water for the more restful ones. This is part of our job too; to teach them the Dauntless spirit. How we function is a lot more chaotic than other factions. And they need to learn how to fit in. Even if we force them into it. Dauntless emersion, you could call it. I whisper "3,2,1!" and we bust through the door. I flick on the bright lights as Four starts banging on the pan. "WAKE UP!!" he yells, in a drill sergeant voice. I can't help but laugh. I lock my eyes on Peter, who rolls over groaning. Most of the other jumped up pretty quick, including Will, who rolled off a top bunk. Tris bolts up, wide eyed, and Myra screams slightly, quickly covering her mouth and blushing. I heave the bucket up and dump in on Peter, saving half for the other heavy sleeper, Edward. He gets most of it in the back, and jumps forward, screeching in the most hilarious tone. I burst out laughing, unable to keep my composure. Edward catches on and leaps out of bed, holding up his hands. I grin widely, thoroughly enjoying this. "Told you there'd be a wake-up call!" Four yells, actually almost grinning. Christina groans, but Tris grins, laughing. Peter glares at me, and not playfully. I don't care. He could try and shoot me and I probably wouldn't care. He can't hurt me. No more than Tyson could.
We start with the basic training when we arrive at the new gyms. No one missed the train, lucky for them. "Alright, punching drills!" Four yells, demonstrating. A few stare, wide eyed. I'd imagine some of them have never even seen a punching bag. I had, but only because I was interested in combat. Eric walk in almost as soon as they've begun. "Stop!" Four yells, and the whole room goes silent almost instantly. I need to learn how to command their attention like that. Eric smirks "As a Dauntless leader, I'll be overseeing your training." Oh great. We were expecting this, but it's still an annoyance. Let's just hope that no one's Divergent. The chances of that happening, however, are slim to nothing.
