Don't let your guard down.

Keep your hands up.

Quick feet.

Fast hits.

Fuck, there's a high pitched ringing noise, she cupped my eat. Next thing I know I'm on the ground just getting wailed on. I hear a crack, my lip is split and there's so much blood that I think my nose is bleeding too.

I tap for the first time ever.

Rae picks me up and brings me to a room. Where she starts patching my face without saying anything. I know she's going to say 'I told you so'

"Just say it already," I sigh

"I'm not saying anything cause I already told you before the fight how I felt." She spit at me

It was my first underground fight where bets are placed, and the girls don't fight clean. I bet one myself, I lost $150.

"I'll win the next fight though, and I'll get four times what I lost!" I said in excitement.

"No you won't because this is stupid, you aren't going to fight underground again!" She yelled.

Well awkward moment because she knows that my name is already on the board for next week's fight. I need the money. I know I'm about to be lectured.

"Tessa, you know I'm just looking out for you right?" She asked, "I just want you to be safe and not lose all your money, okay?"

She sounded sad saying that.

"Hay Rae, how about you treat this beaten broke bitch to some late night breakfast?"

We laugh.

"Alright bitch let's go"

The whole way to the diner Rae was quiet, I know she's just upset about me losing so I don't push her to talk.

When we got there, we sat in a booth opposite each other. Got menues and ended up ordering the same thing. Black coffee, small orange juice, 2 eggs scrambled with onions peppers and mushrooms, plus hash browns.

This is why she's my best friend.

"So who are you fighting next week?" Rae asked, "same girl?"

"No it's another first time fighter, so I'm not going to play nice and hope she bet a bunch on herself." I explained.

"Good plan, you might actually win some money this time," Rae said.

"I agree, but when you're done can you drive me home?" I asked, "I gotta put some ice on my face so the swelling goes down," as I run my fingers across the cut on my swollen cheek bone.

"Of course love, I'll just finish my coffee." Rae smiles.

It was around three or four in the morning when I got dropped off by Rae. As I climbed up to my window on the second floor I decide to take a break. The area is such a beautiful view, we are a few of the first people who got to build our house on the land.

When I finally climb back into my window, the door to my bedroom creaked open. Ellie my little sister poked her head in, oh and my god was she angry.

"You said you'd be back around two," Ellie stage whispered.

"I'm sorry! Quiet down or you'll wake dad!" I whispered.

Ellie came in and sit the door before turning on my light. I could tell by her facial expression that my face looked pretty bad.

"Can you grab me some polysporin and ice and I'll tell you about the fight?" I asked.

"Fine," she sighed and walked off.

I changed out of my blood stained shirt and my pants opting for a long t-shirt and some clean underwear. I could hear Ellie down stairs also making me a tea, and I was trying to find a good way to tell her that I lost tonight's fight. I owe her $10 for keeping quiet.

When Ellie came back into my room she had a tea in one hand and ice and ointment for the cuts in the other. She helped me with my face and I shipped on the tea and told her how it went.

After she took my cup, tucked me in and said, "it's okay that you lost. You'll just have to pay me double when you win next week."

I swear she's me number one fan.
