Aside from the sideways glances and all the whispers in the hallways the day had, thus far, been uneventful. Right now the entire school was gathered in the gym for one of this weeks pep rallies; Loz, Tuna, and I sat with Gam and his friends as we waited. Mikado made her way over to us and sat between me and Tuna.
“Mika, you guys did great with the decorations!” I yelled over the music.
“Thanks! It took a while but it was worth it!” she screamed back.
The music suddenly faded and the gym lights dimmed as the projector screen automatically rolled down.
“The computer club put together a short film reel of all the best moments that took place this year.” Sollux stated quietly.
We all looked to the projector screen expectantly. The music from the film filled the gym and our school name flashed across the screen in its prospective colors. Five seconds of video played before the audio and video abruptly ended.
“Sorry, guys, looks like we’re experiencing technical difficulties.” The leader of the spirit team spoke over the mic as the tech crew attempted to get the file to play. A bright white light filled the gym and a video loaded across the screen. The audio blared through the speaker system and I could’ve died right then. Kurloz immediately grabbed me and we ran out the gym.
“That motherfuckin bitch.” Kurloz growled.
“Loz.” I called out to him gently and brushed my hand against his in an attempt to get him to calm down. He hugged me close and buried his face in my hair.
“This is my motherfucking fault.” He rasped.
“Loz-“ It wasn’t his fault but before I finished my statement I was cut off by the PA system.
“Kurloz Makara and Aubergine Blake report to the principal’s office effective immediately.”
We are in so much trouble.
Loz and I made our way to the office in silence; the air surrounding us was tense. The principal angrily ushered us inside his office; he gestured for us to take a seat then immediately began yelling at us.
“Sex? On school campus? What is wrong with both of you? Makara, this sort of behavior is somewhat expected of you, but, Aubergine? What were you thinking?” I frowned at the way he was talking about Loz.
“While I agree our actions were reprehensible and inappropriate we didn’t have sex; furthermore, while I respect your commentary as an administrator, as an educator, and as a parent I have to respectfully disagree with you. Yes, we made a bad decision, but Kurloz is neither to blame or a bad influence on my judgement. You take what you see and you don’t like it so you assume it’s inherently bad, but you couldn’t be more wrong and there’s no one I trust as much with my wellbeing than Kurloz.” I interjected.
Kurloz smirked impressed with my speech, the principal on the other hand didn’t share Loz’s enthusiasm.
“Blake, Makara, suspension two weeks. You are both dismissed.”
I made my way to the door and Kurloz lagged behind me; he paused before turning around with a sly smirk on his face.
“Y’know, you just gave me a free pass to bone her all I want?” Kurloz challenged. I gasped before playfully punching him in the arm.
“Loz!” I scolded. He pecked me on the lips before grabbing my hand leading me out of the school.
Loz and I headed back to my place; there was no point in staying at school since Meulin’s stunt ruined the pep rally and got us suspended.
“Two weeks, no school- we should go somewhere.” Loz drawled as he flopped onto the couch.
“Like where?” I asked as I grabbed two bottles of Faygo from the fridge.
“Ion know. Concert, theme park, anywhere really.” Loz resolved.
“We could go on a horror binge. Ghost tours, haunted houses, scream fest- it wouldn’t be hard to get tickets plus we could stop by my parents rental house on the way there.” I suggested, handing Loz a soda.
“Let’s motherfuckin do it.” Kurloz responded excitedly. We went online and looked at ticket availability and prices and searched for hotels in the area that were close enough to all the attractions; once we’d agreed on a hotel and tickets, we decided to waste time playing video games.
At exactly 3:05 there was a loud knock at the door; I paused the game and Kurloz finally blinked for the first time in two hours. I opened the door and there stood a pissed off Mikado and a confused Gamzee.
“What the hell was that?!” Mikado yelled pulling on my ear like an angry mom.
I let out a string of “ow’s” and swears before answering.
“That was the video Meulin was using to blackmail Kurloz; she found out that me and Loz made up so she set up that stunt at the pep rally.” I breathed; I was talking really fast because my ear really hurt. Mikado gave me a look and I almost read her mind. “I tied up all my loose ends so nobody would get hurt.” I whispered to her. Mikado released my ear and let out a deep sigh.
“What did the principal say?” she groaned.
“Two weeks suspension.” Kurloz stated nonchalantly.
“SUSPENSION!?” Mikado and Gamzee yelled almost simultaneously.
“Yup, so me and Bone Daddy are gonna take it chill and do some exploring.”
Mikado was about ready to tear me a new one and I could see her anger and frustration; before she had the opportunity to yell at me her alarm went off alerting her to an upcoming tutoring session. Mika cursed under her breath before letting me know that she wasn’t through with me; she offered Gam a ride home and the two of them promptly left. Kurloz grabbed me by the back of my t-shirt and hugged me tightly, peppering my face with kisses. I giggled trying to squirm out of his tight embrace.
“You’re like a giant teddy bear~♡”
Loz loosened his grip and I sat up straddling his lap; I pecked his lips and he held my face in place kissing me deeply.
“Been wantin’ to do that all motherfucking day.” He huffed leaning his head against mine. We snuggled on the sofa and he stroked my hair lovingly; these soft actions always seemed to soothe me and I could feel myself becoming sleepy. I felt myself drawing closer to bedtime Nirvana when I suddenly remembered something.
“What time is it?” I questioned suddenly very awake.
“Almost 7. Why?”
I gave a vague answer and tried to talk Loz into coming along with me; he agreed and the two of us promptly left. I gave obscure but informative directions without explaining exactly where we were going; once we arrived I led Kurloz into the large building and up to the fifth floor.
“Dance class?” he asked dubiously once we entered the studio.
“Hip-hop dance class.” I stated trying to make it sound cool. Loz agreed to stay and even participate in the class for today; the instructor jumped right in with the lesson and with that class began.
