Chapter 7

Artemis' Pov

With Megann being attacked, Garfield turning mutant, Robin gone, Conner's Missing secret mom, Wally being Wally, Kaldur and Tula taking their stealth mission, and basically everything that was going on, I was a little panicked when my mom called.

She had sound so scared, like her life was in danger. I told no one, but walking up to the apartment door.. maybe that was a mistake.

I turn the key and the door opens with a loud creak. I silently step inside, crossbow at the ready.

"Mom?" I whisper

"Artemis?" My mom yells from her bedroom.

I dash quickly to her room, ready to fire at whoever is here. I burst through her door and-

"Artemis! Don't scare me like that! Put your bow down!" Mom yells at me. She's fine, no one else is here...

"Mom... what's the matter you seemed scared on the phone. You know a lot of attacks have happened to friends of the team lately! If anything you scared me!"

"I'm fine, nothing hurt me, but I'm worried about you."

I stare in shock. I get a feeling this is something I would need to sit down for, so I go close the front door and sit by my mom.

"Your sister- or I should say her alter ego slipped by to give you something. I couldn't help but read it, and Artemis? It's not good..." Mom says handing me a grey envelope.

I unfold it and quickly read it.

Artemis I don't have time to write this like a real letter so listen up. I may not work with dad anymore but the light re-recruited me. They are planning something. I don't know what, but you and your team are in danger. This isn't something you can fight. It's also not just your team. They are hunting Red Arrow and our

Ignore that last bit. Try to leave, hide, because the light is coming for all of you. They might come for me too if they knew I sent you this. Good luck, be careful.

By the way, word is it the light plans to break dad out.

I am surprised if anything. Jade isn't one to sympathize and to concern herself over people. This was serious. Or was it? If she still works for the light, maybe she's just trying to mess with my head.

"Artemis?" Mom says looking at me concerned.

I continue thinking, what should I do? It took about an hour to get here, about an hour to get back... should I report this to the team?

I have too. Secrets don't stay a secret forever, and I promised to tell the team everything. I squeeze my eyes shut and take a long deep breath.

We have to go

Dick's Pov

After the team went separate ways Batman called from Gotham needing help with the Joker. As much as I wanted to watch Wally stuff his mouth with food from every restaurant in the town, I needed to go.

Upon arriving in the Batcave I find a frustrated Bruce. Weird...

"I'm here! Let's go!" I yell.

"False alarm Robin. He's gone, I already handled it. You can go now." Bruce says in his bat voice. I roll my eyes.

" So why did you call me?" I ask with a frustrated sigh.

Bruce stands up and turns to face me, "Alfred and I...We didn't know if you would show up if there wasn't an emergency so-"

"So you faked it yah I got that, but I ask again, why did you call me."

Bruce pulls off his mask and walks over to a set of chairs by the training mat. I walk over and sit by him, mask off as well.
