Abby's POV
"Why are you here?" Julian asked me digging his fingers into my shoulder.
"You should go back home as soon as possible and don't even think about telling anyone about this meeting of ours"
Julian violently pulled my arm and continued to drag me away from Jennifer's grave.
"Julian stop, you're hurting me, I can't walk that fast."
My words fell on his deaf ears.
"STOP!" I shouted with all the energy left in my almost exhausted petite body.
"Stop. I did not travel half way across the globe to be whisked away like this. I came here for answers and I will not leave until I get them."
My words must have created an impact on Julian. He immediately withdrew his hands from my wrist and stood silently staring down at me. He knew me well, no amount of persuasion could crack me once I made my mind.
"Fine. Let's talk. I will tell you everything, but once I'm done talking you have to start packing and get back home"
His words sounded cold and unapologetic, Sky wouldn't have treated you like this. This isn't the time to think about Sky.

The lane we walked through looked like a set from a mystery-thriller movie. It was dark, dingy and deadly silent. The night breeze was colder than Julian. I pulled my arms together to keep me from freezing. "You should have brought a jacket. I could have offered you mine but I do not wish to freeze in this weather." I rolled my eyes at him and tried to think of hot chocolate from my favourite cafe back home.
I was engulfed by a warm pair of hands, trying to pull me even more closer. He tugged me in between his arm and his chest, providing both of us enough heat to keep ourselves warm. "I cannot afford any more trouble incase you freeze to death on my watch."
The warmth of his body made me crave more of him. This is going to be hard.
I tried to wiggle out of his firm grip but he made his hold over me even more tight.
Being this close to him made me remember the old times when we walked together like this on the streets, my head by his heart. The sound of his steady heart beat was enough to make me forgot all my problems.
We entered an old building, the silence in the elevator made feel very awkward, this man I was supposed to marry, I face palmed myself.
"Huh?"
"Nothing. I was just..em.." the elevator dinged right in time to save me from the awkwardness. I rushed out only to realize I did not know which way further. Julian shook his head and walked ahead and let me follow him. I bet I saw a smirk on his face. I missed them.
His apartment was decent. A small room with an oversized sofa, but what caught my attention was a table in the farthest corner with many papers and files and a board on wall will lot of paper cut outs pinned to them. The corner of the table had 12-14 used beer cans staked together.
"You weren't this messy."
"Change. Time and people both change. Sit here while I get us some coffee."
I did as he said but I couldn't resist the urge to check out the board. I tip toed towards the table.
''Do you ever listen?"
I jumped almost hitting my knee to the table.
"Here, drink this. It will help you keep yourself warm" I took the mug from Julian's hand and sat on the sofa.

"If I could go back in time I would have quit my job rather than going to London. Colesin company was supposed to seal a deal with our company but at the last moment they backed out. I was sent here to meet with the COO and convince him to invest in our company. The meeting got rescheduled and I had some time in my hand, I went to meet Jenny for the first time in so many years, it was the only way to bury the past demons and get the closure I required before starting a new chapter with yo.." he left his sentence incomplete and looked my way.
"Doesn't matter anymore, does it?" He laughs cynically.
"My boss called me up the next day and asked me to meet with a man whom he referred to as his workman from London office, who would come along with me to meet the COO of Colesin. Being already emotionally unstable after the previous night emotional outburst I did not question him and followed his orders. As soon we reached the driveway of the office building Ben, the workman from London branch got an urgent call and he had to leave immediately. He asked me to deliver his briefcase to Mr. Ray Miles, COO of Colesin. He said it contained something important and that I should personally hand it over to Mr. Miles. He drove me up to the front entrance and left."
Julian took the empty mug from my hand and went to place it in the kitchen sink. My eyes followed his movements.
