Hello my fellow readers!
I'm new on wattpad and this is my first story so do cut me some slack. I'll try to make this short, first if you are reading this then thank you. I really hope it's any good and last but not least *dramatic drum roll* I would REALLY appreciate it if you vote or comment. That's all folks!
---------------------------------------------------------
About a month ago this would have been my every day.
Waking up in the morning same old routine. Same old shitty reflection in the mirror, same old plane clothes because we don't have the money for better, the hate for the school bus or as I like to call it the beginning of my personal hell.
Pretending I don't hear the whispering behind my back.
The long walk to the back of the bus, to the lamest of lame. There I see Jordan, as nerdy as ever, studying as always for the chemistry test I completely forgot about.
I sit next to him with a; "What's up loser!" He looks up with a bored face and keeps on studying.
He's not much of a talker, and by that I mean he doesn't talk, ever. I remember the day I met him, I kept calling him shit face for a week just to get him to say a word. Mostly people just don't care or assume he's mute.
I manage to distract myself till the end of the ride. It's funny how much bullshit I have on my mind but the important things always seem to slip out. The bus stops, I zone back in when I see Jordan getting up and walking past me, I run after him. I should probably mention he's not very friendly.
As I walk towards school I see my mom's delivery truck on the parking lot. I try to blend into the group of teens, hoping she doesn't see me. I almost make it to the door when I hear her annoying voice and cringe.
"Leo, baby! Come here!" She yells across the parking lot.
I turn to her and mouth "Not now!"
"Sorry, I see you're busy with your friends..."
After this I'm lucky if I still have friends.
"Okay, love you! See you at home!" She yells and finally walks away with a handful of boxes.
She works at a delivery service, delivers food to our school every morning, in other words takes every chance she can get to embarrass me. Having my mom work at our school really isn't helping my social life, but it's not like my lack of one is completely her fault.
Well shit.
Josh isn't here.
Okay, no need to go into panic mode, deep breaths. He better show up because if I have to spend a day alone with Jordan I don't think I'll survive.
Who is Josh? Well he's my best friend (no offence to Jordan but our talks are usually me asking random questions and him studying and ignoring me).
I'm probably going to miss the class if I go searching for Josh and I really would like to avoid the reason I wetted my bed until 5th grade, the main reason behind my nightmares: Catrina Williams.
Sweet, sweet, crazy and creepy Catrina.
Most kids had fluffy animals growing up or pets or even imaginary friends. My family never had money so it wasn't like that for me but I was always sure of one thing: no matter what I ALWAYS had Catrina.
Watching me.
Stalking me.
Taking photos of me.
Making scrap books about me.
You know when they say you are not as alone as you think you are, well I know the feeling.
You know when they say there is ALWAYS somebody who cares. Well she's made it very clear how much she cares, in fact she cares so much it just makes me want to set myself on fire.
Well school sucked, as usual.
I've had 4 classes and I already felt like dying after the second one. Everything became a blur after. I should really pay more attention in class but it's not my fault the teachers suck at their job. Its lunch time and Josh is still out of sight.
As sad as it is, not seeing Catrina is the only thing that keeps me going.
After the torture of the last 2 classes (longest 90 minutes of my life) the bell finally rings and I take the bus home.
Actually getting home takes about an hour of walking. We live in a tall old building with washed out walls, and a couple of broken windows here and there. We lived in a subdivided flat until I was six. My father started to work more and got enough money to move here.
Once there was a rat in our department. My father was supposed to be an exterminator but when it came down to doing his job he was surprisingly terrible. He always brought big amounts of money tough and he always worked late. Sketchy? I know but I was never complaining.
"Honey I'm home!" I yell as I open the door. No reply.
Home alone and it feels good.
That is until I see the list of all the chores on the fridge. Since my mom has to work overtime or sometimes double time I have to take care of the flat.
Why does life hate me? I get a headache just thinking about finding a job but I know I have to. Zero free time for me and school work is completely out of the question.
I'm so tired. My lifeless body lays on the couch but I'm unable to sleep. I turn on the tiny TV but don't really pay attention to the picture. I think this is the best part of the day, listening to random voices of people.
Everything would be so much different if we had money.
It's 9 pm when mom comes home. I really need to get a job, she's been working more than usual and it's all because of father.
After dinner I decide to call Josh. I have to use the house phone, it's really annoying not having a phone but I'll get one someday.
"Whassssup, Keswani!" Josh answers.
"Don't you dare 'whassssup' me asswipe!"
"Okay, okay jeez, what's up with you? Is it that hot chick Catrina?" This is just Josh being Josh.
"Ew, what the hell man? In what universe is Catrina hot? Never mind. Why weren't you in school today?" I try to change the subject.
"Went on a trip with my parents, be back on Monday." He replies, bored.
"You bastard you said you'd call!"
"Calm down, you're starting to sound like an old woman... Look I gotta go, stay strong." He says and hangs up.
"Josh! Don't you dare!" I can't believe this. "He just hung up on me, that bastard." I start making my way up the stairs when the phone starts ringing again.
"Josh, you stupid son of a goat-"
"Hello son." A strong voice interrupts my rant.
"Father." I reply, a little surprised. "How's prison?"
And that's how it all began.
