I was hiding behind a huge cement wall of the Beacon Hills High, towards the woods. Only a few students lost their way to this place and when they did, they just shoot a glance at me before they went back to the main schoolyard again. But due to the fact that my two targets just decided to move further away until they were standing on the woodland, it was the perfect place to hide.

"He still doesn't want to talk?" It was the werecoyote who was talking now, I think her name was Malia.
The other girl, Lydia, denied. She has rarely said a word since she left the school. I'm not sure if she's even present or lost in her thoughts.

For a long time, nobody said a word.
I already thought they would stop and go back to school again, but Lydia finally broke the silence.
"You know, I know he's acting strange and that he dissasociate himself from literally everyone, but I have the urgent feeling that it's the worst when we are around him."

"What do you mean?", Malia asked, lifting one eyebrow in the air.

"Nothing", Lydia sighed. "It's just that I think he's diverging more from us than from others."

"But that doesn't make any sense. We're his best friends. We knew Scott better than anyone else. If there's someone who can actually understand what he's feeling..." She didn't finish the sentence.
Actually, she seemed a little bit lost and... affected.
Wow, for someone who spent most of her life as a werecoyote, she was really touched by someone's death.

More than I am, I thought and immediately I felt guilty. I never knew Scott but still, he was my brother. My blood. Shouldn't I feel at least something like concern, even if it's just a little bit?

The conversation of these two kept going but I was only listening with half an ear. Until someone tapped me on my shoulder, which let me startle up instantly.
I turned around, beeing embarrassed to be caught in this situation. Blue eyes inspected me, before a slow smile appeared on the face of the strange boy who was standing before me now. I wasn't even able to react because his whole appearance left me shocked. He was taller by a head and seemed to be very amused about the situation.

"Poor thing, nobody has ever told ya that it's rude to spy on others?"

"I didn't spy", I replied, not very convincing.

"Of course not." He struggled to hold back his laughter. "Well, what exactly were you doing here, then?"

I haven't got a logical answer and he knew that, that's why he was making fun of it.
Not with me.
"I could ask you the same question, you know. But I won't because unlike you, I know very well that you don't ask rude questions, especially not to a completely stranger."

"Woahh, who's the rude one now?" He smirked and I could see that something around him shifted.
Hold on, was that possible?
I thought I knew all the creatures living in Beacon Hills, but it seemed as if I had forgotten someone.
It was clearly recognizable now and I was wondering why I haven't noticed it before.

"You're a werewolf", I said.
His smile faded for an instant, unsure how he should handle this new situation.

"You know about us?" I saw it in the way he tensed his muscles, he was ready to attack me immediately.
But then he smelled.
And he realized.
"You're one, too."

This time it was my part so laugh. "It took you quite a long time to observe. Anyway, I got to go now."

I turned around, but he hold me back. "Wait! Who are you?" He studied my face, searching for something familiar.
"Don't waste your time. It's the first time I'm here, I'm sure we haven't met before", I said.

"So you won't mind telling me your name?" He smirked again and I couldn't resist to smile back. This guy was really cheeky but in a good way.

"I'm Jade. Jade McCall."
"McCall? Like...like Scott McCall?", he asked.
"He was my brother", I said. "You knew him?" My interest in him began to grow again, but he just shook his head. "Kinda, I guess." Something around him shifted again, leaving me unconscious.

"Well, no need to get emotional. I also barely knew him." I smiled, turning around for the second time.
"If it doesn't bother you, I will go now,...." I realized that I still didn't know with who I was talking all the time so I just stopped in the middle of the sentence, looking at him patiently.
"Theo. My name is Theo Raken."
