Chapter One
"CYNTHIA, GET black coffee to my office. Now." He spoke harshly, pinching the bridge of his nose.
Loud scurries were heard outside his office, and he immediately dreaded the thought of her wearing heels. Alex could already feel his headache coming back, but this time into a migraine. Cynthia rudely opened the door without knocking. At the sight of his narrowed eyes, she held her right hand up in defense.
"Cynthia, love. How many times have I told you to knock before fucking entering?" He spoke rather rude to her, but in all honesty she deserved it in his eyes.
Cynthia placed the coffee, on a coaster, before answering him. She held her integrity greatly, holding her head up. Alex could see right through her facade.
"Sorry sir. It won't happen again." Cynthia could almost feel herself fainting in front of her stern boss.
"Sorry?"
"I'm."
"I'm what Cynthia?" He sighed. "Use your words love."
"I'm sorry, sir." She repeated, almost rolling her eyes."
Alex let her be when her heels took her from the four glass walls. Alex put his head in his hands at the thought of what was to come later. He could already feel himself reaching his breaking point from the thought of meeting his father later.
The only time he ever met his father was for business reasons, and lately he had been trying to get Alex to settle down. Alex was almost using any excuse possible but he was reaching the peak age of thirty and he needed something different.
It was around noon when Alex arrived at a little Italian restaurant to meet his father.
"Father," Alex said, sitting across from his father.
His father was in his late sixties with some grey hairs. He did however held his demeanor very greatly. "Son, I bet you know why I called you here today."
"Apparently not father, as my mind is black." He retorted. "Care to join me in?" Alex took a bite of his pasta, almost hating the coldness to it. And by his father's face, he could tell that his father felt the same.
"It's time Alexander."
"Time for what father?" Alex almost had a flashback from earlier with the whole Cynthia situation.
"Time for you to settle down son. Look at yourself. You aren't getting any younger son, and I hate to say this but your ways of love at the moment are weakening day by day."
Alex almost felt himself sickened by what his father was dating to say. He knew that having sex with endless of woman was getting him nowhere in life, but he never had the idea of finding love. Sometimes he got lonely at night, and it would lead to him finding a woman at the bar and having sex with her. But in the early morning, Alex would kick her out with no word of ever calling her again.
"What are you talking about father?" Alex took another bite of his endless pasta before saying anything else. "Look at yourself before you say something like that."
"I'm not saying everyone is perfect Alexander. All I'm saying is it's time to get serious and settle down with someone."
"Oh, yeah? Who?"
His father took a sip of his beer. "Eva Faith."
"Who?"
"Eva Faith," he repeated, but in reality did no difference. "She is willing to meet up with you for coffee tomorrow in the morning."
"Excuse me?" He asked, slightly irritated.
His father narrowed his eyes into slights. "Meet up with her tomorrow, or you will no longer associate with my business."
"What?" Alexander felt himself fume. His father had always made jokes about making the business go to someone else, but he never thought he would actually go through with it."
"You heard me. No coffee date then no pleasure in being in the business." His father could sense that Alex was going to say something to finish off his anger, but he held his hand up and said: "End of discussion."
