She couldn't take her eyes off the house. She couldn't help feeling the glass tables and crystal decorations. It was a mansion right next to the beach. How can she ever have the honor of taking this house?
"April... I can't..." Lavina began.
"Yes, you can. You're in need."
"But... I feel terrible. I mean staying at this beautiful house for free..."
April deeply sighed. "Fine, think of this as mortgage. You stay here and pay me the rent once you get a job. Until then you stay here, deal?"
After a lot of thinking, April finally agreed.
"Come on, let's see your room."
Lavina's room was like a five star hotel room. It was all black and white with soft rugs that just make you wanna sleep on them. The window overlooked the beach and had a soft breeze blowing through the crack. She wondered if she still had time to escape.
"Freshen up and sleep tight. Consider this your own home," April says and exits leaving the star-struck Lavina alone.
Slowly Lavina started doing little work. She unpacked her suitcase and took out her night-dress. There was an attached bathroom where she washed her face and applied night-cream. And true to April's word she did sleep tight.
"Ugh, whose making this ruckus early in the morning?" April moans and looks at the time. It was 8:45, still the earliest time that April has ever woken up.
She rubs her eyes before going to the dining room.
"Oh, hey. I hope you don't mind, I was just so hungry," Lavina has a pan with a egg on one hand and a bread on another.
"Not at all. You're an early rooster, huh?"
Lavina quickly looked down, "I tried to make as less sound as possible."
"No, I mean it's fine," she waves a hand in air. "I always wanted to wake up early, my mom yelled me too. But I was too lazy. Living with you might finally change that."
"What do you like for breakfast?" Lavina changed the subject.
"Normally, I don't eat breakfast but I like what you're making."
Lavina served her a boiled egg with toast and juice.
"Looks nice... and healthy," April commented.
"It's tasty too. Have you never had it?"
"No. When I was young our maid used to make Italian waffles with the sides cut-off and something fancy like that. Never this simple," April admitted.
"Wow. Your life must be good," Lavina said as she made a plate for herself too.
"Yeah, I guess you can say that. But I always had it tough since Mom was never around and Dad kept marrying whores. Our whole family was destroyed."
"I'm sorry. I couldn't imagine what that feels like."
"Yeah," April just nodded. "This is delicious though!"
"Thanks, I used to take cooking classes."
"No wonder. I hope you're still not worrying about paying the rent and all."
"Kinda am."
"What? I told you to be as comfortable as possible."
"I know but..."
Lavina didn't finish neither did April prodded for her to.
After they were done April asked, "Hey you wanna go somewhere today?"
