"Evie," My mother waved, "over here."I walked to where my parents were standing, pushing the trolley that had my bags on it.
"Oh, it's so good to see you." She enveloped me in a hug.
"We're so happy that you're back." My dad smiled.
"Likewise; although, I don't think there was a need for you both to personally come to the airport to fetch me. You could've sent Simon."
Simon was our chauffer. I remember him driving me everywhere ever since I was a little kid as my parents were too busy with their meetings and travelling.
"What kind of parents would we be if we sent the chauffer to pick up our daughter who's coming back after years?" My dad chuckled. "Let's go, I'm sure you're tired after that long flight"
"What about my bags?" I turned around only to find Simon dragging the luggage trolley towards the exit. He looked at me and nodded his head.
On our way home from the airport, my father had excused himself since he had somewhere to be which left me with my mother. My mother was busy on the phone with a client.
So, this is how it was going to be? So much for 'we're so happy you're back.'
I sighed and put on my earphones.
I haven't really introduced myself and that's pretty impolite. My name is Evangeline Rose Lorenzo, the only daughter of Alistair and Viola Lorenzo.
My father Alistair is the CEO of one of the most prestigious companies in the world; ABL. ABL currently operates in more than fifteen countries. Initially, the company provided people with job opportunities and helped them in setting up their business by modifying and improving their ideas. Later, it started funding small businesses, providing student and business loans and buying different companies that would bring them profit.
He also owns a company that goes by the name Lo-Tech. His company designs softwares, each software worth millions of dollars. My mother has her own jewelry line; Diamante. Initially, she only designed jewelry and sold them but later she started designing clothes and shoes and Diamante turned into a proper brand. Sounds fancy? Trust me when I say it isn't as fancy as it sounds.
"Honey?" My mother asked.
"Yeah, mother?"
"Oh, you're awake. I thought you fell asleep." She smiled, "we're here."
"Oh, joy," I smiled
"Now, don't be too sarcastic. Aren't you happy you're finally back home? Everyone missed you so much."
"I am, Ma." I lied. Truth be told, wanting to come back home was the last thing I wanted. "Where's Dad?"
"He just texted me saying he's on his way home,"
I smiled and got out of the car, nostalgia hitting me as soon as I did. I looked around me, everything seemed so familiar. I was taken away from my thoughts by a voice.
"Evening, Miss. It's a pleasure to see you after so many years," I turned around to see Simon smiling at me.
"Simon! Yes, it's been a very long time, hasn't it? How are you?" I smiled.
"I'm doing well, miss. How have you been?"
"I've been good," I smiled.
He nodded his head, picked my bags and entered the apartment complex. I followed suite and was immediately greeted by the doorman and other workers. I've lived here for as long as I remember. Suffice to say, everyone knew me and I knew almost everyone around here.
