Dedicated to Katherine Ann Butt. Great daughter and Doctor Who fan from her loving Dad.
Prologue:
Judoon Prison asteroid.
The prisoner was in his cell, lying on his bed when the call box announced that he had a visitor. Curious, the prisoner got up from his bed and went to the door and looked through the glass window.
The Visitor was standing outside his door with a smile on his face. He allowed the door to open and walked inside the cell. The Prisoner was startled to see who it was.
"Please, sit down." The Visitor spoke in an easy voice. "This is an informal meeting, sort of, off the record."
The Prisoner sat down on his bed and looked at his guest. The Visitor spoke.
"Now my friend, I have no doubt you have spent the last years of your incarceration brooding over what went wrong or who foiled you."
The Prisoner remained silent.
"An opportunity has arisen that may help ease your pain over past failures." The Visitor continued.
The Prisoner scoffed, but then spoke.
"I am not your friend, Sir, and I have no idea what you are talking about." He said lying back down on his bed.
The Visitor smiled, pulled an old map out of an old leather bag he had been carrying and handed it to the prisoner.
The prisoner unfolded the map and studied it for a few minutes. When the importance of the map hit him the Prisoner gasped.
"Can this be true?" He said. "After all this time they have been found?"
The Visitor nodded his head and smiled.
"Yes it's true and the council, including the Queen are quite anxious to get this expedition started. That is, of course, if you are willing."
The Prisoner slowly nodded back and said to the Visitor.
"I would love to lead this party, but of course, I'm in here and can't lead an expedition from a cell."
"This then should satisfy you, a full pardon for your crimes." The Visitor replied handing the Prisoner a long draft piece of paper.
The Prisoner took the paper and read it. Slowly he smiled and looked back at the Visitor.
"When do we leave?"
PART ONE
The Fourth Doctor
Year Feb 2075 Raven's Head Ontario. Eight km outside Windsor
Cameron O'Malley looked at her reflection in the mirror and sighed. The person that looked back had reddish brown hair, great blue eyes, nice complexion and pouty lips to go with an athletic five foot 9 inch twenty eight year old body.
The reason why she sighed was that with all of her effort, athletic scholarship to Brock University, degrees in sociology and Physical Education, and making the Dean's list, she was still stuck in the arm pit of Ontario, Raven's Head, serving coffee in the town's only café, The Bird's Nest.
"I am in hell." Cameron said to her reflection.
As if expecting an answer, Cameron bent her head down and closed her eyes. She took a couple of deep breaths, steadied herself and walked out of the bathroom.
