Life With A Social Introvert

The Beginning

          Matt. What does that name sound like to you? Who's the first person that comes to mind? Well for me, it brings to mind my best friend. He isn't really completely totally normal.. But he does like other people the same way you and I do.  This is the story about how Matt, Me, and Katy all became really good friends. Even through all the hardships and.. abnormalities, I guess you could say, of us being us. I'll tell it from the different points of view, just to help you understand.

          Matt: "Bro! What if she just doesn't even know me at all? Like, I say hey and she's all like, 'Who are you?' That would be so embarrassing dude! What would I do?"

         Me: Oh, man. He's such a dork.. "Dude. Everyone knows who you are! You work here! Starbucks! The place that was quite literally made for girls! She comes here every day, sits in the same corner away from everyone else, orders the same thing, and who from? You! She knows who you are, you just have to not act like a complete idiot when you start the conversation."

          Matt: Oh.. He's right.. Wait?! "I'm not an idiot!"

          Me: "I said to not act like one, I never called you one. Wait, here she comes! Go get ready to do your thing man! Remember, don't act like an idiot!" He is so totally gonna act like an idiot.

          Matt: "Okay bro. I got this. don't be an idiot. I got this I got this." I don't got this I don't got this..

          Katy: There are so many people here today, I wonder if he's even here? Is my corner open? Oh, of course it is. I'm the only one that sits there. I wonder why? Okay, plug in my laptop, start my project, wait for Matt to come. I bet he's wearing those same jeans again, the dork. Oh look, I was right. He's so cute! I wonder if he would want to talk to me.. Probably not.. It's not like he'd ever like me.. Oh! He just asked me something! Oops.. "W-what was that? I was t-thinking about something.."

          Matt: She's so cute when she does that. "I asked if you wanted your usual for today? And it's okay, I get lost in thought sometimes too.. heh"

          Katy: "Yeah, I-I'd like my usual, thank you." I wonder what he meant by he gets lost in thought sometimes? Is he thinking about me?! No no, he couldn't be.. Could he?

          Matt: "Okay, I'll have it right out for you ma'am." Okay okay, that wasn't awkward, was it? Was my smile to big? Did I blush when she asked me to repeat myself? Oh man, I can't do this. I have to talk to Mike. He can help.

          Me: "How'd it go man? Did you ask her to the movies or for a walk or something? Details, man! Details!"

          Matt: "I.. haven't asked her anything yet.. except for what she wanted.. heh"

          Me: Okay okay, he's completely lost with this girl. "You have to ask her to go do something man! Ask her what she likes to do for fun and just go from there. You got this man! Be confident! Now go, before she thinks you abandoned her."

         Katy: There he is again. Should I ask him something?  Maybe he already has something to do after work.. I'll just not ask him.. Just like every day..

          Matt: "There you go ma'am. I, uh, I payed for it today.. You come here often enough and I know this stuff is expensive so I figured.. Why not, eh?" Oh man. She must think I'm a dork or something. Wait, she's blushing?! Maybe I should ask her now..

          Katy: Oh.. Oh boy.. I can feel my face changing.. He's so nice and cute.. Maybe I should ask him.. He's starting to blush.. I shouldn't ask him.. He could say no.. "T-thank y-you Matt.. You're so s-sweet.." Did I just call him sweet?! 

          Matt: She just called me sweet.. And she knows my name! Noice! " Uh, no problem Katy.. Listen, I've, uh.. I kinda was wondering if after I get off work tonight maybe you might possibly maybe want to go do something with me.. Maybe..?" Good going man. Really smooth pick-up line there.

          Katy: Oh... Oh no... People are looking... I can't be here... Not with everyone looking at me... I have to go... "I-I have to go.. I'm sorry.." Oh man oh man oh man, get outside..

          Matt: No.. "Wait! Katy, wait!" No...

          And this is where our story begins. I love cliff hangers, don't you?
