They met on a rainy night.

January 16

10:00 P.M. He was at a late night meeting discussing the company's stocks, but his eyes kept on wandering over to her. They marveled over her mocha hair and sky blue eyes. They took in her patient elegance, her beautiful face. They fell in love with her.

Unbeknownst to him, she was also stealing glances at him. They were quick, little, unnoticeable peeks, but she soaked in his presence and features. She kept an ear on every word he said and tried to learn everything she could about him during the meeting.

Suddenly, their eyes met. It was unexpected and they both pulled away quickly, embarrassed. However, she looked up again, just a small peek and her eyes met with his once again. The glance held a little longer and when they broke away, a smile graced both of their lips. He spent the rest of the meeting gathering up his courage to talk to her.

11:00 P.M. The meeting ended and she left the room, following her company's chairwoman. He was forced to stay behind, as the CEO wanted to talk to him. He tried his best to listen, but his mind kept on wandering to the girl. He wanted to, no, had to talk to her.

He was finally let out of the room, and he dashed outside. The elevator kept on making stops to pick up more passengers and he kept on checking his watch, counting every minute and second. After an eternity, he finally made it out, but a kindly colleague attempted to make conversation with him. He quickly ended it though, trying not to sound rude, and rushed outside of the building.

She wasn't there. He made a complete spin, hoping to catch sight of her. She was nowhere to be seen. He desperately kept looking, even though his head told him that any normal girl who just got out of a business meeting at 11 pm would go home immediately.

Behind him, someone cleared their throat. He ignored it, basking in his self-pity and sense of loss. The person cleared their throat again, but he didn't even hear it. Suddenly, he felt a tap on his shoulder and he quickly turned around.

She was standing there. Her hair was down and there was a quiet smile on her lips. His mind went blank, as he comprehended the current situation. He tried to remember the lines he had thought of during the meeting, but they all disappeared, gone in the surrealism of the moment.

Her eyes traveled everywhere, unsure where to land, as thoughts raced through her head like mustangs. Do I look fine? Maybe I shouldn't have let my hair down. What if he's feeling awkward because I look weird! Oh God, why did I tap on his shoulder! Maybe he never wanted to talk to me and I was taking his glances the wrong way! What should I do?!

He scratched the back of his head and looked down at the ground as he desperately tried to think of something to say. What am I supposed to do? She's probably regretting tapping me on the shoulder right now. I need to say something before she leaves. Think, you idiot! You had so many scenarios in your head before! What happened to them? THINK!

"Doyouwannagetsomecoffeewithme?" he blurted out, surprising both himself and the girl. She blinked, shaken out of her flurry of worries, and more than a little confused. "Excuse me?" she asked blankly. "Uh, I was wondering if you wanted to get coffee with me," he repeated, gesturing toward a coffee shop across the street and hoping he didn't look like a complete idiot. Her confused look slowly melted into a smile and she answered, "Sure."

He smiled, relieved, and together they stepped onto the street. However, as soon as the two stepped onto the ped xing, she felt something wet drop on her head. She looked up and was greeted by drops of rain falling on her face. She let out a surprised gasp, and they dashed across the street, him shielding them to the best of his ability with his coat, and her trying not to slip in her heels.
