I sat quietly in the office of Red River High School, waiting patiently for principal Jones to come to collect me, to show me around. My father was in the military, so my family moved around a lot, that meant that this was yet another new school I would be going to, but my father did promise that this would be the last 'new' High School I will attend until college. Except I never get my hopes up anymore, my father had said the exact same thing to me since I started High School and ever since then I have gone to eight different ones all over America.

After about 20 minutes of waiting the principle finally rounded the corner with a big, wide smile across her face. She walked up to me and held out her hand, I took it, "Hello I'm Mrs. Jones the principle of this high school, and you must be Elijah." "Yes mam" " well let me tell you that that's a beautiful name and shall we get started" "thank you and yes mam"and with that she directed me out the door that lead into the hallway. She showed me around to the basic places the gym, the cafeteria, the library, etc. and she also told me that all sophomores eat all together at 12:30, for lunch. Once we finished with that she decided it was time to show me to my home room class, English 1 with Mrs. Brook Whittington. We came to a stop at room 55 with a blue plaque, hanging on the door, that said "Whittington, Brook English," Mrs. Jones reached out and nocked on the door, and soon after the door opened reveling a woman. She had Shoulder length straight White hair, with a tee-shirt, and jeans, her face looked kind and happy, she then said, "hello you must be the new student welcome!" She took my hand and shook it, with a firm grip.
"Well I have to get back to the office I guess you can take it from here, and have a great first day Elijah" Mrs. Jones said
I met her eyes and smiled and Mrs. Whittington responded by saying "yes mam, thank you". Mrs. Whittington then ushered me into the room and led me to the front-middle of the room, facing everyone. A few faces were already looking up at me as I walked in but when Mrs. Brook cleared her throat everyone's heads all looked up, "everyone" she said "this is Elijah Ellis he is a new student and I hope you make him feel welcome." I saw out of the corner of my eyes a few girls sit up straighter as I turned my head in their direction and some guys behind them seeing their movement start to  give me the death stare. I looked fully around the room trying to find a place to sit and there were only 4 seats not taken in total, but what peeked my interest was 2 out of the 4 empty chairs were around one girl. She sat in the back right hand corner of the room with her head down writing on piece of paper, from what I saw she had golden blonde hair, and was wearing a black leather jacket, with gray converse, and the school uniform. I decided to take the seat next to her and I had no idea why I wanted to sit here but I did. Now there was one seat in front of her still open, so then I opened my backpack and pulled out my binder and set it down on my desk, when I started to hear whispers all over the room so I turned to see that almost everyone was staring at me. Why are they all looking at me is it because I'm the new student or is it because I sat down next to this girl?  I thought to myself.

I then looked over at her, she was sitting in the same position her head down with her pencil touching lightly as she carelessly glided it across the paper, she couldn't be that bad could she? Except I felt something, like there was something about her that made me drawn to her, making me want to know who she is and why her, but at the same time something else in the back of my mind telling me to stay away...
