chapter 1- Birthday surprise

-13 years later-

I wake up at 7am, I've always been the early bird. where as my mum, she could sleep forever if it wasn't for me waking her up.

"mum wake up, wake up. It's my birthday, wake up"  I say jumping on her bed.

"Happy birthday Daisy, wait one second" my mum says getting out of bed and kissing me on the head. she comes back with an envelope. and a little silver box wrapped with a pretty blue ribbon.

"mum you didn't have to get me something. we have to save our money remember" I say.

Ever since my father left my mother (when she told him she was pregnant with me) she has had to live a very poor life, my father decided that my mother could keep the old tiny house but he gets her money and furniture. My father was a very powerful man, not the good powerful though. My mother hasn't told me much more other than he was an evil man and he would have never been a true father.

"lucky for you my sweet daisy I have been saving some money. 13 is the year of becoming a teenager and I wanted this to be a special present" she says giving me my present.

I smile at my mum. "open the box first" she say with a proud grin.

I open the silver box to see a necklace with a heart pendant on it. I look at my mum with a giant smile, "you have to open the heart sweetie" she says with a giggle.

I open the heart and see a picture of my mum and me when I was just born. I run and jump onto my mother, smothering her in a giant bear hug. we just sit there hugging each other.

"now, you might take this part of the present a bit of a surprise. but I know deep in my heart it's the best for the both of us" I start to get a weird feeling inside. is she sending me away? oh no.

I slowly open the envelope, there's a cute message inside from mum saying happy birthday, next to it are two tickets. I look up at mum to see her smiling. I pick the tickets up  to north Carolina- flight 270 -1.00pm-

"we're moving to North Carolina!" mum says throwing her arms up.

"so our flight is tomorrow, I thought you might want to spend today with your friends say goodbye." mum says trying to make it seem better.

"ok" I say with a slight smile

"look sweetie, I know this is your ideal birthday present but I've chosen a nice house it has a pool and a big bedroom for you and me. you'll be going to a nice school, i'm sure you'll meet heaps of good new friends." mum walks up and gives me a hug.

"why did you choose to move"? I ask smiling.

"well my work said by moving there I'd get better paid and because we are leaving they have payed for our house and all your school fees till year 12. I couldn't say no to such a wonderful offer" she says smiling.

"i'm happy about this move. I will miss my friends but like you said, how can we say no to such a wonderful offer" I stand up from mums bed and give her a hug.

"theres no point living a life you don't like when there is a fresh new one awaiting" mum says smiling.

" your right I'm going to go pack my stuff and then text Lacey and Tess" I say cheerfully

(even though I'm talking to no one...) this was a pretty boring chapter but don't worry the fun starts soon. next chapter she won't meet hayes but she will after that chapter :).
