Sebastian moved through the crowd stealthily. Unnoticed by all. He saw her fiery red hair disappear through a door and nearly broke character. Then, he reminded himself he wasn't here for Clary. He was there for someone completely different.
Clary looked at the person in front of her. She hadn't seemed abnormal before?
"Tessa has a bit of a long story, Clary. You may need to sit down." Clary did so and stared at the girl who seemed so ordinary.
Tessa told her a lot of information.
(A/N: If you read the Infernal Devices you'll know who Tessa is. If you haven't read it, first off, you should, second Tessa is a shapeshifter. That's really all you need to know for now.)
Clary paid attention to every word that fell from the girl's mouth. In the end, her heart ached for the girl and her backstory.
Clary turned to her mother once Tessa was finished. "Why did you bring me here?" she asked softly.
"Tessa can help us with--" She was cut off by a high pitched scream from back outside the door.
Then another.
Then another.
Until the entire room was filled with gasps.
Clary's mind raced to a million different possibilities of what was happening. She could only imagine the worse.
She didn't wait to hear what her mother had to say. She pried open the door and looked around to see what had happened.
Then, she immediately wished she hadn't.
In the center of the room, face down, was a man in a silk tuxedo with a dagger protruding from his back.
Her heart sunk in her chest.
She knew who it was.
Her mother made such a sound of agony as she fell to her knees, weeping.
The blood was still pooling out of the body as it lay there, limp.
It was Luke.
Clary was crying harder and harder. Before she knew it her feet took her across the room to where he was.
She turned him over to see it was true. Though deep down she had known it all along.
She cradled his body in her arms. He hadn't been her father for a day yet. He had always been her father figure, but now, when he truly was her father, he was gone.
A hand was placed on her shoulder. She looked up at Simon. She thought she would've seen his vampire tears but instead he only looked down through a bruised eye.
She choked back her sadness, now replaced by fear. "Simon, what happened?" she asked shakily.
"He came back, Clary." His eyes were filled with sorrow.
She had already assumed that. Sebastian is horrid and she knew. Why did he look so distraught?
"But that's not all." He took a deep breath as if preparing her for the worst. And this indeed was.
"He took Jace with him."
I'm sorry Shadowhunters. This was really hard to write.
