Fear. Fear waas what consumed her more than anything as she ran. She ran for freedom, she ran for safety, she ran because she had no idea what else to do.

She ran randomly and wildly until she tripped on a pile of ruts, landing on her wrist.

"No!" She yelled as she sobbed, so extremely delusional she thought her dad had her again and was chasing her.

" Leave me alone-!" She screamed again, stumbling up and running faster, tripping and falling everywhere, her body knocking into rocks and roots, the woods getting denser and denser as she cried out for help, cried out for the warm embrace of freedom.  She'd never had a warm embrace, she was weird because she was a pushover.

The only emotion she'd felt for years was cold. She choked on her tears, another sob ramming into her weak ribs. Two of which were out of place, which caused her breathing to be difficult. She coughed, kneeling onto the ground.

Her knees pressed into the thick moss and undergrowth, it tickling her legs slightly. She coughed, nothing coming up and out of her mouth.

Stumbling up and running, further into the forest. The tall grass filled with bugs and small animals, scared away from her loud cries and sobs.

She fell on her knees, the final time as she hyperventilated, her vision blurring. She felt fur brushing up against her hand and a growl, and she blinked frantically, jerking and shrieking in fright.
"No- no more! Leave me alone!" She sobbed, tears streaking down her face as she finally lost it. Her head spun with pain and blood dribbled down her forehead and down her neck.

-

She came to in a grey, fluffy bed in a big room. The pillow, wet with her tears.
She got up, leggings shaking before her knees buckled, overtired from the prior day. A loud noise rang out as Lucy collided with the floor.

A curly haired boy walked in hurriedly, confused and concerned. Her eyes were cloudy, and she looking around confused and dazed.

"I-I'm sorry I just- please I-" She mumbled, her eyes darting around the room. This boy was NOT her dad. She wiped her cheeks, a ruddy and overly soft feeling.

"mercy." She mumbled, then realized the curly haired boy was next to her.

"Hey, you're okay. I just found you in the woods and took you back here." He said softly, tucking her hair behind her ear.

"That was kind." Her voice trembling slightly.

"Yeah, I guess, but you can't slam around in here, it's only 4 am." Jack laughed at himself, and smiled over at her, trying to make her feel comfortable.

"I apologize sincerely. " She looked at him, scared for dear life.

"It's fine. You're so sheepish." He grinned, standing and holding a hand out to her.

"Come with me, we can get to know eachother outside. You can leave whenever you want, you're not a captive." He suggested.

Lucy narrowed her eyes and got up, knees shaking slightly. "yes.."

She took his hand and he pulled her up  before walking out the door quietly to reveal a big, family home.

"You can see the forest from our patio, do you wanna talk on our patio or tell me what you were doing in the forest?" Jack said, and Lucy raised her brows in thought.

-
The two sat in silince in the backyard for awhile, until an older woman, around 35+ came out of the house, and called Jack inside to talk to his father. He told her to stay outisde and she did. She couldn't focus. She kept hearing things, seeing things. her head pounded and she exhaled shakily.
-

"Sorry about the long wait. My father and I-" He kept talking and Lucy nodded, not hearing a word before she stood up and fainted.

LUCY POV

"Grab your ID, we leave soon." He said, shaking her arm. We went into the kitchen and he introduced me to his family, his little sister Isla was the kindest.

I waved with my good wrist, my right one was sore.

He invited me inside for breakfast, which was pancakes. I asked if he was sure and he practically forced me in.

About twenty seconds after I began eating his dad asked if I was left handed.

It was a weird observation. It made me nervous.

"Y-yeah." I replied with a polite smile. He glanced at Jack who was just eating, chatting with his sister.

-After Breakfast-
"Jack? Could I have my backpack? If you have it." I asked him, observing the entire room. He nodded and tossed me my bag, which was sitting in the corner. I felt blind and dumb. Bracing myself for a hit as he walked near, but I jolted up and toward the bathroom.

He started to walk in too, but I told him I was gonna change and he left the quickly. But with long, grey sweatpants that were a bit too tight on the hips. The t-shirt I wore was old and had faded lettering and smelled of whiskey.

THIRD PERSON POV

Lucy tucked a strand of wet hair behind her ear. She had taken her clothes and showered, and now she smelt like Jack, because the only  body wash she was able to find was his and she was kinda smelly so she used it.

She was tired and drowsy, and her head was spinning. It still hurt like a son of a bitch.

She felt nauseous, her stomach flipping. Eventually she was talking to a worried Jack about something about a trip.. she couldn't remember.
