Darkness. All around me. Nothing less, nothing more. I wandered around aimlessly until finally, I found something more.
A little light, seemingly unstable but so, so gorgeous. In the eyes of the humans I hadn't moved an inch but out here, I was by her side in mere seconds.
She was struggling, collapsing. It wasn't hard to see, but she turned towards me and flashed me a weak smile that showed exactly how strong she really was.
"Tell me your story?" I whispered, afraid of being insensitive while she was at her worst.
She looked towards Earth, "I used to be one of them. Those little ants destroying that lovely planet. A walking sack of bone and flesh that thought they ruled the world," she laughed humourlessly, "And then I came here. Down there I always felt like I was nothing, people paid no attention to others. It was all about them all the time. But up here, it's a whole other thing.
"Up here people stare at you in wonder thinking you're the most beautiful thing. Up here people think you're magical. Up here you're a symbol of hope. An escape, something people can get lost in."
She looked over at me, "Up here you're whoever you want to be and everyone thinks it's wonderful."
"What comes next?" I was afraid for her. She was burning brighter and brighter as the seconds passed, I was just getting to know her, I didn't want her to leave yet.
"I don't know but whatever it is, it'll be another adventure," she smiled at me one last time before burning the brightest she ever could and in a millisecond, she was gone.
Yet again, darkness surrounded me.
