Hey, so this is my first One Shot. Hope you enjoy and I would love some feedback to improve :)
The picture to the right is of Shelley Hennig from the Secret Circle, that’s how I pictured Sophia.

A month ago, my family and I got a letter, more specifically an invitation to my uncle Robin’s wedding in Cheshire. The last time I saw him was when I was 8 years old and he had moved to Holmes Chapel. He originally only went there for a holiday but he met a lady there and decided to stay. That was ten years ago and I haven’t seen him since.
He had been my favourite uncle and we were very close, but that all changed when he chose a woman and her two children over me. He had called but I always refused to talk to him. He had abandoned me, whether he knew it or not, I wasn’t sure, but he never made the time to come back and visit us in London. My parents didn’t care and thought I was being over dramatic, I just ignored them and my hate for my uncle, his girlfriend and her two kids grew.
Now I was at the reception of the wedding, which was being taken place in a large hall in Holmes Chapel, his new home. It was decorated in ivory and pale pink; obviously the bride had chosen the colour scheme.
I had managed to avoid Uncle Robin and his new family throughout the whole ceremony and hadn’t payed attention at all. I had put up quite a fight with my parents to let me stay home in London but they had refused.
Knowing full well it was very disrespectful, I had walked out of the church as the priest was talking. I was extremely bored and didn’t want to hear them recite their vowels. So, as casual as ever, I had walked out from my hiding spot at the back of the room and walked straight out the front doors, not really caring if anyone saw me.
After meeting up with my parents at the front of the church, who hadn’t noticed I had disappeared, we had driven over to this hall to celebrate but in my situation, I use the term ‘celebrate’ loosely as I had been sat at this table all evening, except for the few occasions where I had gotten up to avoid my uncle and his new wife, Anne.
I took a sip of my champagne and then stood up, straightening out my dress. It was a black, floor length strapless dress, which accentuated my decent sized curves and petite frame. If I had to be forced to be here, I’ll at least dress the part.
I subconsciously fixed my waist length brown hair and grabbed my purse. I started to make my way towards the hall’s exit as I had noticed Uncle Robin and Anne walk in my direction. Finally squeezing my way through the party goers, I pushed open the double doors and stepped out into the empty hallway, shutting the doors behind me. I looked around and for the fourth time that night, I made my way to the ladies’ bathroom to hide.
Just as I reached the bathroom door, I heard the door to the hall creak open and I made a hasty dash into the toilets. I leaned back against the door and let out a relieved sigh, hoping that the person wasn’t my uncle or Anne.
I stayed in the bathroom for five minutes, fixing my hair and retouching my makeup. Feeling it was safe to go back, I opened the door just enough to pop my head out and look around. After double checking that the hallway was clear, I opened the door fully and stepped out. I started walking back towards the hall’s entrance only for someone to walk into me from the side, causing me to lose my balance and fall over. As the person’s chest slammed into me, I let out a squeak and closed my eyes, bracing myself for the fall. I had my eyes closed for several seconds and opened them when I realised I didn’t smash into the floor but instead felt two strong arms wrap around my waist.
I looked up at the person holding me and my eyes came into contact with a pair of warm brown eyes, which were owned by a boy about my age. My eyes traced over his black hair which was perfectly styled into a quiff. I traced with my eyes the tanned skin of his face to his pink lips, which were currently being bit nervously by the handsome boy. I looked further down and saw the black suit which fitted him perfectly, stretching to accommodate the muscles in his arms.
