"But what if we get caught?" I asked.
"That's the most fun part," Avery smiled with fire behind her eyes. "C'mon!" She slung the backpack onto her shoulder and trotted to the door of the trailer.
We crept along the sidewalk, Avery and I clung to the shadows, our shovels clanking softly in our back packs. "I don't know about this," I whispered.
"Shhh," she put her finger to her lips. "Just follow me and shut up"

A faded "no trespassing" sign was fastened to the large iron gate."Uhm, Avery..." my voice faded. "Its illegal to cross if that sign is posted" I whimpered.
"I know," she smiled with a bounce in her voice. She tossed her bag over the gate. "Gimme a boost," she said, her hands grasping two of the iron rods making up the fence to the cemetery.
I interlocked my fingers to launch her over the fence. She glided over with one smooth movement as I struggled to just toss my bag over.
"Hurry up, slow poke," she teased.
"You act like I'm not trying," I rolled my eyes, but I knew in the dark she couldn't see.
As I finally made it to the inside I was sweating through my fleece hat. It was a cold night, the kind where no one is out and you can see your breath by just exhaling through your nose.
"So, Ave. What's the next move?" I asked her disrupting the silence of the night.
She turned around and I could see the outline of her finger to her lips through the slight glim of her dying head lamp. "We gotta find the right spot," she whispered.
"And what does the right spot look like?" I returned in a whisper quieter than hers.
"I don't know, you just gotta feel for the right vibe," her head lamp flickered. "Fuck." She fished a lighter out of her pocket and thumbed at it a few times until it illuminated her face.
"Okay, I'll just follow your lead Ave."
