Melody's P.O.V.

Brit lit is pretty interesting but it was strange learning in a school compared to my own. Never mind all the people watching me some because I was new and others I'm guessing were from the pack were looking at me confused by my scent, most likely. The bell rings and I gather my stuff and head out of the classroom to see James waiting for me. I can't help but smile.

"So how was your first class here?" he asks as he leads us to our next class.

"It was good, hopefully, I can make some friends in that class since it's not like I'll have every class with you."

I look around the hallway noticing a lot of people were watching us walk together. My first guess would be pack members wondering why their alpha was hanging out with me and not acting like he normally does around mortals since that's all I currently am to them. We get to our next class which is Marine Biology, James has me sit down next to him in the back. Human's version of Marine Biology wasn't completely wrong but they knew so little it still amazes me how they could be so clueless. The teacher walks in and makes me introduce myself. I stand up before introducing myself,

"Hi, I'm Melody I just moved in from out of town," I smile before sitting back down.

The teacher explains that our lab partners are just whoever is at our table making my lab partners James and the guy I saw with James this morning.

"Hey I'm Jackson," he introduces himself before the teacher starts the lecture on microbes.

I don't bother taking notes. I zone out during the lecture not paying attention. They aren't far off with microbes but they aren't hard to understand. The teacher asks a question I don't pay attention to.

His eyes land on me, "Melody do you have any input?"

I look at the teacher, "I'm sorry what was the question again?" I ask and he responds with a sigh.

"If anyone knew the difference between zooplankton and phytoplankton."

"Zooplankton is microbes which are tiny living animals that are microscopic and some grow up to be larger animals, like coral, while some stay microscopic, like most Ctenophora. Phytoplankton, are plants that are microscopic, like dinoflagellates and forms of algae," I answer easily naming off the differences and examples of each.

"Correct but make sure you also pay attention Melody," he says surprised with my answer.

Everyone in the class is looking at me amazed at my detailed answer. I smile slightly and look down at my blank notebook knowing I don't want to draw too much attention to myself.

"How the hell did you know all of that?" James whispers to me.

"I just know these types of things the ocean is a very interesting place," I respond simply. "I watch a lot of ocean documentaries when I can't sleep," I shrug.

"So you're some sort of fish girl?" he chuckles.

"Something like that," I say resisting the urge to smirk.
