My Southern Love

*(Unedited)*

Prologue:

Have you ever just wanted to move out of town and see what people would think? To see if people would miss you?

That's what I did. My dad wanted to wait until I got out of high school but I talked him into moving sooner. We moved from a small town in Connecticut to Savannah, Georgia. I left everything behind. My friends, my family (besides my dad). It turns out my grandfather kept more from us than him being in the army. He owned a barn and gave it was titled to my dad.

"Mariah come on we have to go!" My dad yelled to me as I was saying my final goodbyes to my friends.

"Bye Riah, I'm going to miss you." My friend Tabitha said to me.

"How many times do I have to say that this isn't goodbye. Goodbye means forever. This isn't going to be forever. I love you guys." I told Tabby, Matt, and Ricky as I got into my baby blue ford F-150 pick-up truck to follow my dad.

I honked as I drive past my friends of 12 years. We've all been friends since kindergarten and we have never been apart for over a week at a time. We were known as the 4 musketeers. I know I'm going to miss them but this had to be done.

I put my plugged in my iPhone and turned on the radio to country 92.5. It was my favorite station. As we turned into the highway going south my favorite song came on, Carolina by Parmalee. And I of course sang along to it.

A couple of hours later my phone rang so I turned Darius Rucker and put my phone up to my ear; "Hey honey, I'm almost out of gas so I'm going to stop." My dad belched into the phone.

"Alright dad I'm still right behind you." I replied berring off the highway ramp.

I pulled up behind my dad at the gas station and walked in with him to pay for gas. I grabbed an Arnold Palmer Arizona and some bugles for the ride as I payed for my gas. I walked out to my pump and put my snacks on the passenger seat before pumping gas into my truck.

"Arnold Palmer and Bugles huh Riah?" My dad called. "Just like always."

"You know it's a tradition dad." I rolled my eyes putting the pump back and closing the gasket.

"Yeah yeah."

I hopped back into my truck and took off on the road behind dad again. God I hate driving for hours I can't wait till we get there.
