I ran through the woods, going faster and faster until I had to stop. I called out to my father, we were playing together and it was getting late. "Dad, it's getting dark can we go in for today?" I shouted. I waited a few minutes for a reply, but never got one. "Dad..? C'mon this isn't funny." I called, waiting for a reply again, and like before, I didn't receive one. "Dad!" I called. The sun had set now, and it would be pitch black soon. I looked up to the sky, seeing fluffy, grey clouds streaked over it. 'Please, don't let it snow tonight..' I silently prayed.

Eventually I gave up calling, it was now pitch black and I was sure it would snow soon. I looked around in the darkness, hoping to see a flashlight or lantern somewhere, but my hopes never happened. 'I guess I'm really lost,' I said to myself. 'it's lucky that I wore my mittens and big coat.' I patted the ground with my mittens, making sure that there weren't any sticks under me. Once I was sure that there weren't, I sat down in the snow and tried to fall asleep.

"Hello?" I heard someone say. 'Who was that...?' I thought to myself. I could tell it wasn't someone I knew, I had never heard this voice before.

"Is she alive?" Asked another voice. I wondered how many people were around me, but I didn't open my eyes.

"Yes, she's alive, just listen to her heartbeat." The first voice said. Their voice was smooth and quiet, and they seemed very peaceful. The other voice however seemed annoyed, and I was guessing that they were a snappy person. I blinked open my eyes, although my vision was pretty blurry.

"Who are you?" I mumbled. My vision cleared and I shot up in surprise, feeling a pain in my shoulder as I did. "Wh- What are you-?!" The two figures in front of me were nothing like I imagined. A dragon and cat were both looking at me, the cat on my chest. "How can you-"

"Talk? Yeah, we get that a lot." The cat interrupted. It paced off of my chest and it's form changed to a human. The dragon said nothing, but changed as well.

"We're shape-shifters." The dragon (who was now a human) softly replied. "My names Celeste, what's yours?" He asked. I was to shocked to answer at first.

"E-Ellie.." I finally said. "So.... you two.. shape-shift..?" I stuttered out. I wasn't scared, but rather shocked. I heard that shape-shifters are almost all gone, and if they aren't then they're normally hunted for their powers.

"Yes, we're shape-shifters." The cat-girl answered, clearly annoyed. "And my name's Heather. And I'm guessing that you're just a normal human?" She asked.

"Yeah.." I answered. "So... what are you even doing here?" I asked.
