As I Fall Into Darkness: The Sacrifice

My name is Karos Rynenguard. And many years ago, I had put an end to the Darklord, Elon, restoring peace to the two worlds. We won the war, only to find out that Elon was not the end to the darkness. And once I found out that the darkness still lingered through the two worlds, I just couldn't believe my eyes nor ears. The war is still not over, an even greater darkness awaits in the shadowed realm waiting for the right moment that it will have the advantage over us. And, I fear the worst that we might not make it out of this war alive, so much is at stake and if I fail, all of creation that we have come to know will be gone. I can't allow that to happen. I'm not sure how this will all end, and I'm not sure if I'm prepared mentally for what is to come. But what I do know is that I have to do what I do best, protect the ones that I hold the most dear, because without them, I know for sure I won't be able to make it through this. I can't, not alone.

Ch. 1 The Mysterious Messenger

It was a nice cool and stormy day in the deserts of Elvania. It had only been a year since the fall of the Darklord. Ever since Elon had been defeated there started to be strange events occurring across the two worlds. Such as strange and unusual weather patterns for example, but that's only one example I'm afraid. When I first entered into Elvania I was quite shocked to see such strange weather occurring in the vast deserts. I was in Elvania at the time doing mercenary work for the Black Guardians Guild, while Aria was resting back at home. I remember that I was kneeling down on the edge of a good size cliff, staring out into the deserts of Elvania, with my dragon, Kalamore, right beside me. I just needed some time to gather my thought.

"Where are you?" I asked in almost a whisper. Just then my dragon gave out a small growl, but it wasn't one out of anger, it was one made for concern. I turned over to Kalamore and gently patted his scaly back. With my thoughts clear, I now had an idea of where to go next. I got back onto my feet and moved onward. "Okay Kalamore, let's keep on moving."

I ran back down the huge cliff I was on with Kalamore keeping a close eye on me from up high in the skies. Though, I had to stay wary and vigilant at all times as I treaded across these vast deserts. In the deserts of Elvania, even up to this day, there are scorpions that are of the size of trolls that lurk deep beneath the sand floors. The people of Telmaria and Distara like to call them the shadowed demons, because they hide deep underneath the sand and will move at great speeds. They are silent as ever, too, until they get close enough to you to know you were being followed. That is when they make their move to attack. Usually, they will just use the stinger on their tail to drill you under the sand floor and you will turn into another one of their nice tasty meals. Luckily, my powers gave me an advantage against the scorpions. Unfortunately, this was going to be my first time ever facing them. Though I still had confidence in myself that I would do just fine knowing all the powers I had at my disposal from the Gods. After the war between good and evil was over and done with, I thought I could actually have some good time to relax from all the fighting with the Black Guardians. Though, unfortunately, more and more bandits, crooks, villains, whatever you want to call them started showing up across Telmaria and Distara, and I've been assigned to do a lot of the dirty work. Though, I guess I shouldn't complain, it's good pay anyway, a man's got to make a living somehow. I was in search for a man who had been wanted for many crimes, his name was a strange one, Xilidan, I believe was his name, but his crimes began to get so viral within the past year we began to give him a different name. The Master of Winds, began to be his new and well-known title, because every time he was caught red handed after all the chaos he'd cause, he'd always get away by casting a teleportation spell and vanish into thin air. He had a very large bounty on his head for many different crimes, such as the murder of plenty of innocents, theft, rape, cannibalism, you name it, this guy was crazy, and even if he was to pay all of these crimes off, the Black Guardians Guild still wanted him dead, they saw him as too much of a danger for the people of Telmaria and Distara. And they couldn't of been anymore right about the matter, this guy had to be stopped, one way or the other.
