#180 Your baby has Leukaemia

Your POV

I was currently cutting up some veg for our dinner while Niall was in the living room with our 1 year old daughter, Aaliyah.

"Y/n! I'm just going upstairs changing Aaliyah's nappy!" Niall yelled through the house .
"Okay!" I replied.

I continued cutting the veg and putting it into a pot. I was making a stir fry for us.

"Y/n!" Niall yelled from upstairs.
"Come here!" He added.
I went upstairs.
"Why is there blood in her nappy?" Niall asked looking worried as I entered the room.
I looked at him confused and saw that there was blood in her diaper.
"How's she got that bruise?" I asked pointing to a bruise on her shoulder.
Niall looked and noticed the purple spot.
"There on her legs too" he said pointing out the faint , barely visible bruises on her legs.

"N..Niall this isn't normal, we need to take her to hospital" I told him and he agreed.
He changed Aaliyah and picked her up placing her on his hip.

We were in a nurses office.

"Hello I'm Nurse Esmèe, what seems to be the problem?" A nurse asked politely as she sat across from us.

"Well , earlier today, I was changing my daughters diaper and noticed some blood on her diaper and then we also noticed that she has some faint bruises on her shoulder and legs" Niall explained.
"May I see these?" The nurse asked and we nodded.
Niall had Aaliyah so he took her clothes off so she was left in her diaper.

He sat her on the bed  and the nurse looked at the bruises.
"Does she fall or anything at home?" The nurse asked.
"Very rarely, she sometimes falls when she walks, but if she does we always check to make sure she's okay and we've never seen bruising like this" I told her.
"We will do blood tests immediately, since your daughter could have Leukaemia" she said.

The nurse left the room with Aaliyah so she could do the blood tests. They said they will be an hour until she and Aaliyah come back with the results so we were told to wait in her office.

"I really hope she's okay" I mumbled as I cuddled against Niall, scared of what's wrong with my daughter.
"Me too, I'm sure she is and if she isn't she'll make it through, our baby girl is a fighter" Niall said reassuring us both.

"I'm gonna call my mum" Niall said and I nodded.

Niall's POV

I walked outside the hospital and leaned against the wall calling my mum.
She answered after a few rings.

"Hey Niall" she said.
"Hey mum" I mumbled.
"Why are you calling? You usually call at night, not when I'm working" she asked.
"Well I'm at the hospital" I told her.
"What? Why? Are you okay? Is y/n and the baby okay?" She asked wondering if me, y/n and Aaliyah are okay.
"It's the baby, I was changing her diaper earlier and there was blood and then we noticed that she had bruises" I explained letting a tear escape my eye.
"Is she okay? Have you been told what's wrong with her?" She asked concerned.
"No" I said.
"T..they think she has leukaemia mum" I sobbed not caring what people thought of me.
"I'll be there in 2 minutes, wait outside the hospital love!" She said and ended the phone call.

A taxi stopped outside the hospital and my mum climbed out of it.
She came to me and engulfed me in a hug as I cried into her shoulder.
"Y/n's in the nurses office waiting. The nurse took Aaliyah for a blood test she'll be back with Aaliyah and the results in an hour" I told her wiping my tears.

****i sat down next to y/n and held her hand, my mum sat on the other side of me.
Y/n was also crying.

The doctor entered the room with Aaliyah.
"Dadda" Aaliyah mumbled and the nurse passed her to me.
The nurse sat opposite us.
"Is she okay?" Y/n asked letting her tears fall.

The nurse gave us an apologetic look.
"I'm afraid to tell you this but your daughter has a rare form of leukaemia and there is a 30% chance that treatment will work for her, I'll leave you for a few moments" the nurse said and left.

"No" I whispered holding Aaliyah close to me and crying.
My mum and y/n were also crying.

3 months later

Your POV

Niall and I were currently on Ellen for an interview. Aaliyah was in hospital still having treatment and Maura was with her at the moment.

"So how old is your daughter? And what has the disease done to her?" Ellen asked.
"Aaliyah, she's 1, and the disease, it caused her a lot of pain and it's extremely hard seeing her suffer" I told her wiping my tears.

"Is she receiving treatment?" She asked.
We nodded .
"Yes , she's been receiving treatment for 3 months, and its extremely hard to watch her suffer. The treatment has made her lose her hair and lose lots of weight." Niall said.
"The doctors said that she had defined odds for lasting this long but they told us last week to..to prepare for the worst" Niall said as tears escaped his eyes.
The crowd awed and Ellen gave Niall a tissue to wipe his tears.
