Emma's point of view

After Gemma and I left the bathroom, her and Anne stayed at Harry's for a couple more hours before they went back to their hotel. I was about to leave as well, but on my way out the door, Harry stopped me.

"Emma, wait." He said, making me stop walking and turn around. "When you and Gemma were in the bathroom, I had to walk past it to get my charger and I couldn't help but hear your guys talking about me moving on and such if you wait too long to make a decision..."

"Oh, you heard that?" I said, looking down at Ava.

"Yeah, and I just wanted you to know that you should just take the time you need. I'm not moving on anytime soon." He said. He wasn't looking at me either. We were both just staring at the ground, neither of us sure what to say next.

"I should just get going. Text me when you wanna see Ava." I said, putting the car seat into the car. I glanced over at Harry and he gave me a nod.

"Bye." I said as I got into the car. Then, I started the engine and drove back home.

"Hey." Tom said as I walked inside, carrying Ava's car seat on my left arm.

"Hi." I replied.

"Jeremy came over with two boxes for us today, but I haven't opened them yet." Tom said, getting up from the couch. I furrowed my eyebrows as I put the car seat on the kitchen table and saw the boxes. One of them was labelled 'Emma', and the other was labelled 'Tom'.

"Why did Jeremy even have boxes with our names on it?" I asked, and Tom shrugged.

I opened up the one labelled with my name and saw a bunch of envelopes marked with different dates. The top one was marked July 2nd 2012. All the other envelopes had several dates from July 2nd 2012 all the way down to June 23rd 1994, the day I was born.

Tom opened his as well, and the top envelope in his box was also marked July 2nd 2012. His went all the way down to March 3rd 1990, his birthday.

I picked up the envelope marked with the day I was born and opened it. I pulled out a piece of paper. A letter. A letter with a handwriting I immediately recognized. Mom's.

Without even having read a word, tears fell from my eyes. I put the letter down on the table and looked over at Tom. He was currently reading his first letter, and he had tears streaming down his face.

I picked up the letter again and started reading it.

June 23rd, 1994

My dearest daughter, Emma, as I am writing this you are currently 10 hours old. You're lying sound asleep in your father's arms, while both him and your big brother Tom are fonding over you. You've already got them wrapped around your finger.

By the time you're reading this, your father and I will be gone. We made a decision while I was pregnant with Tom that we would write a letter for each year we get to spend with you and we'll have the Cooper's take care of them for us so they can deliver them to you a few years after we're gone.

Hopefully you'll be an old lady before you ever get to read these, but if something bad happened to your father and I, just know that we loved you very much, and we still do, even if we're not here.

I hope that your life is going well right now and that you're happy, no matter if you're young or old. Just make sure you're happy. That's all I'm asking for, sweetie. Mommy loves you to the moon and back.

Love, Mommy

I put the letter down again and wiped my tears. Tom was already reading his fourth letter, but I wasn't ready yet to read another. I closed the box again and looked over at Tom. I hadn't seen him cry this much since mom and dad's funeral, and it really broke my heart to see him like this.

"You know what's the worst part about this?" Tom said, putting away the letter he was currently reading. "Mom didn't even know that she and dad were gonna die so early. She just wanted to make something for us that we were gonna enjoy when we're old and maybe even got some grandkids. We weren't supposed to get these while we're both in our twenties. These boxes could have been at least twice as big as this, filled with even more letters."

"I know..." I said, looking at the two boxes. I then walked over to him, wrapped my arms around him and leaned my head against his chest. He sighed before hugging me back and resting his chin on top of my head. "Let's just be grateful that mom did this for us, okay? It'll be a reminder of how much she and dad cared for us and loved us."

"Yeah, you're right. It's just hard getting over the fact that they're actually gone, you know." He said.

"Yeah I know. But hey, at least we still got each other." I said and gave him a smile.

"Always." He said and smiled back.
