It took an hour to finish painting the room. While Simon and Paula waited for the paint to dry, they moved all the old furniture, right next door, into one of the rooms in Paula's house. As soon as they got back into Simon's house, the door bell sang a beautiful song. Simon answered the door to find a delivery man holding a clipboard.
"Hello! How are you?"
"I'm doing well thank you and yourself?"
"Not too bad, sir. Can you please sign this paper to see if everything you ordered is here, please?"
"Of course."
Simon took the clipboard and read the list, every item they purchased was on the list. Then he gave it to Paula for her to look over. He didn't want to sign the paper until he was certain that they didn't forget anything. The list consisted of beds, dressers, nightstands and desks. They had bought two of every item. Simon gave them his John Hancock before handing the clipboard back to the delivery man.
"Where do you want this stuff, sir?"
"Um upstairs all the way down the hallway to the right."
Paula wanted to make it clear where the furniture was supposed to be placed. She could tell that Simon's directions was confusing the young man in front of them. "It's the purple and blue room. You won't miss it."
"Thanks. Okay come on guys!" the delivery man said, calling out to his crew.
Simon helped the men carry the heavy items up to the girls' room. As Paula directed them, telling the men where the furniture should be placed. After the men had left, Simon and Paula were left to start decorating the room. He hammered in nails into the walls to put up posters, picture frames and mirrors. At the same time she made the beds and rolled out the purple and blue striped rug on the ground. About twenty minutes later, the room was finally finished and both were satisfied with all their hard work. They hoped the girls would love it as much as they do.
"So what do you want to do now, love?"
"Well it's too early to go back to the Baker's, so let's go to the beach."
"Which one? There's a least a hundred."
"No...well maybe there is around a hundred beaches in town. I don't know, but I want to go to the beach you proposed to me at. Is that okay with you?"
"Of course!"
"Okay let's go, we're burning daylight!"
"Just a second, darling. I'll be right back."
"Where are you going?"
As he turned the corner, she looked down at Honey, who was looking down the hallway.
"Where did Daddy go?"
The puppy barked as if to call him in her native language. Just then Simon comes back with his arms full of stuff. Honey wagged her tail at his return.
"Oh thanks for getting my purse! I totally forgot about that."
"You're welcome, but what do you have in there? I had to lift it up with both arms. Did you put any rocks or bricks in here?"
"Yeah you guessed it, I have rocks in here."
"I knew it. But seriously why is your bag so bloody heavy?"
"I don't know. I just have my essientals."
"Why do you have a book in there?"
"So when I'm early to pick up the kids, I can entertain myself."
