Jade's POV

"Jade it's getting late so you can go home I can clear up the rest." Sam says his blue eyes glancing at his watch.

I scan the room seeing tables covered in bottles and cans.

"Are you sure? There's still so much to do." I say moving my attention back onto Sam.

"Yeah I'll be fine. You stayed later than me last week so it's my turn to finish up." He says smiling at me as he hands me my coat off the rack. I quickly get it on as no doubt it will be raining. Typical English weather.

"Okay bye Sam." I say as I open the door. Looking outside I see that it is raining. If I had a penny for every time it rains in this country I wouldn't need this job.

"Bye Jade see ya tomorrow night." Sam says bringing me out of my thoughts.

I nod before walking out of the door, finally leaving the bar after another long shift which I will have to do all over again tomorrow. As unfortunately for the past 2 weeks Sam and I have had to do both the Friday and Saturday night shifts.

I start walking my usual route home through the dark streets of this quiet town. Even with the street lights on it is very dark while I walk up the high street, which is empty apart from the odd drunken man stumbling along.

I am nearly home now, I just have to go through the park. I open the gate and carry on walking past the slide and then the swings.

To my right I can hear the faint sound of twigs snapping and a loud rustling noise. Jade it's fine it's probably just a fox, I tell myself. But what if it's not? The paranoid side of me wonders. So I give in and I stop and look in that direction.

Lurking in the shadows of the trees I can see the outline of a man leaning over something - wait is it a girl?

I quickly look away and pull my hood up trying to cover my face and carry on walking pretending that I didn't see him. Hopefully he didn't see me either.

As soon as I get home I quickly lock the door behind me and shut all the windows and curtains. Before dashing upstairs to the safety of my bedroom.

Then I quickly get dressed into my pyjamas and climb into bed.

I lie awake staring at the ceiling, alone with my thoughts. Did I really just see a murder? No it's probably just your mind playing tricks on you. I reassure myself. You are tired after all.

Slowly I drift into a restless sleep filled with murderous dreams.
