I awoke to find myself floating. Floating and unable to hear or breathe. When I opened my eyes I was greeted by an intense burning sensation I opened my mouth and the strong flavor of saltwater overloaded my taste buds. It was at that moment I thought, Oh dear... I'm under water! I swam upwards very quickly so as not to drown myself trying to understand how I ended up where I was.

Right before I ran out of breath, my head broke the surface of the uncannily still ocean. I floated on my back for several minutes as the sun was just coming up from under the horizon, while trying to regain my composure and fully grasp where I was. After I calmed down, I took to surveying my surroundings and was horrified after my scan of the horizon was complete. No land anywhere... I'm screwed... All I could see in every direction was a vast expanse of watery blueness that met the horizon. Well, I may as well swim till' I die. So I started swimming. I decided to swim towards the sunrise. And I swam, and swam, and swam for at least 3 hours before I saw what looked like a beach. At first I though I was delirious. But then, as I grew closer to the island, I realized that it was in fact a land mass! So I quickened my pace.

An hour later I crawled exhausted onto the beach and fell down. Never had I been so glad to see sand in my life. After resting for a few minutes I sat up and looked around at my surroundings. Much to my surprise, there were trees directly behind me. I got up and walked off in that direction, hoping to find fresh water, for I was very thirsty after my long swim. As I approached the trees, I saw a tiny little 'cave' like indenture in the small hill of dirt and grass that rose up from the beach. I quickly slid down the sandy side and cupped my hands in the water and brought them up to my face. I almost cried when I tasted the fresh water. It was the best thing in the world to me and so I decided to remember where this was in case this was the only spot of fresh water on the island. I walked up the small hill to the trees and sighed. Looks like I'll be beating on this for awhile. And so I began to beat the living daylights out of the tree.

Half an hour later and sweating from my exertion, I looked down at the 5 blocks of wood I had managed to obtain, and then looked curiously up at the leaves. The were just floating in the air! What kind of world was this anyway? Then, I had to ask myself, Why did I get square blocks of wood from a tree that I beat down with my fists? Leaving that thought to hang, I realized that in order to make anything, I'd need some sort of table. So I picked up the wood blocks trying to figure out how to make them into wood planks when, much to my shock, they immediately turned into a stack of 20 wood planks! I stared at the wood dumbfounded. How in the world did that just happen!? I wondered. I was snapped out of my deep thinking when I was hit on the head by something. I shrieked, turned around in a panic, and saw nothing. I looked down and noticed that there was an apple sitting on the ground in front of me. I looked up to where there had used to be leaves, but they had vanished, leaving a bunch of little tree saplings and apples.

I bent over and picked up the apples when my planks suddenly vanished from my hands! What!? Where'd they go!? I looked around me, frightened beyond all reason when I felt a tiny object in my pocket. I put my hand in my pocket, realizing for the first time that I actually had pockets and felt a small square object. I pulled it out of my pocket and it instantly expanded into my 20 planks! Dumbfounded, I stared at the planks for several minutes trying to figure out what had happened. On a hunch, I looked at the apple and reached out to grab it when again, my planks disappeared. I stopped and stuck my hand back into my pocket and felt the tiny square of planks. This just keeps getting more and more bizarre... I thought to myself. Picking the apple up, I noticed that another one was lying on the ground not to far away from me, so I picked it up as well. Then I reached for a sapling and my apples disappeared. On another hunch, I stuck my hand in my pocket and felt two extremely tiny shapes. Now reassured that I wouldn't starve, I picked up the sapling and looked at it. A word floated into my head, Birch.... I stopped and then realized that that must be the kind of tree I had just destroyed. Understanding crept over me and I tucked the sapling into my pocket to save for later.
