A cheerful mascot bear strolled through the bustling park, holding a cluster of colorful balloons. The vibrant hues stood out against the gray pavement, drawing the attention of children everywhere. Suddenly, he noticed a small boy sitting on the edge of the walkway, tears streaming down his face.Concerned, the mascot crouched down to the boy’s level. “Hey there, are you okay?” he asked gently, his large bear paws resting on his knees. “Did you lose your parents?”
The boy sniffled, his small hands clutching his knees. “I was following you to get a balloon, but when I turned around... Daddy wasn’t there,” he mumbled through his tears.
“Really? Oh no!” The bear mascot’s voice softened. He reached into his bundle of balloons and plucked a bright red one. “Here, take this. Let’s find your dad, okay? Can you tell me what he looks like?”
The boy’s eyes lit up briefly as he accepted the balloon. “My daddy looks cute, just like me.”
The mascot chuckled inwardly at the boy’s innocent perspective. Cute? That’s a new one. He glanced around, scanning the crowd for any sign of a panicked parent. “Are you new around here?” he asked, trying to keep the boy calm.
The boy nodded, wiping his tears. “Daddy said this is our first time here.”
“Alright then,” the mascot said, standing up and offering his paw. “Let’s head to the Service Center. They’ll help us find him, okay?”
The boy nodded again, his small hand gripping the bear’s paw. “Okay, Bear-kun.”
The mascot led the boy to the Service Center, where staff members quickly took over. “Don’t worry, kiddo. They’ll help you find your dad,” the mascot assured him before stepping back to resume his work. As he wandered through the park, handing out balloons, he kept an eye out for a man who matched the boy’s vague description.
---
As the mascot paused near a shop, a man suddenly burst out, colliding with him and sending both tumbling to the ground.
“Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry!” the man exclaimed, scrambling to get up.
The mascot looked up, stunned. No way... The man had the same soft features as the boy, with flushed cheeks and watery eyes that only added to his charm. He really is cute, thought the mascot, trying to suppress a blush.
“It’s fine,” the mascot said, regaining his composure. “By any chance, are you looking for your son?”
The man’s eyes widened. “Yes! Have you seen him?”
The mascot nodded and gestured for the man to follow. Together, they hurried to the Service Center. As soon as they arrived, the man spotted the boy.
“Alex!” the man cried, rushing forward.
“Daddy!” the boy shouted, sprinting into his father’s arms.
“Oh, my sweet boy! I thought I’d lost you!” The man clutched Alex tightly, his relief evident.
The mascot watched the heartfelt reunion from a distance. They really are a spitting image of each other, he mused.
“Good job, Mr. Bear,” a staff member teased with a sarcastic smile.
The mascot waved it off with a laugh. “Just doing my job.”
---
The father, now carrying Alex in his arms, thanked the Service Center staff and hurried outside. “Alex, do you see the bear anywhere?” he asked, glancing around.
Alex scanned the crowd eagerly. “There he is, Daddy!” He pointed to the bear, who was in the middle of giving another child a balloon.
The man hurried over, standing a few feet away until the mascot finished his task. When the bear turned around, he found Alex and his father waiting.
“H-hey!” the man stammered, a hint of nervousness in his voice. “I just wanted to thank you for looking after Alex and helping us reunite.”
The mascot nodded, shaking the man’s outstretched hand with his oversized paw. “You’re most welcome. It’s all part of the job.”
“Mr. Bear, can I see you again? I want more balloons!” Alex chirped, his earlier tears forgotten.
The mascot chuckled. “Of course! What’s your name, kiddo?”
“I’m Alex!” the boy replied, grinning.
“And what about you?” the mascot asked, turning to the man. “May I know your name?”
The man hesitated for a moment before answering. “Oh! Uh, call me Boboiboy.”
The mascot froze briefly, his thoughts racing. What am I doing? I probably sound so weird right now!
“Nice to meet you, Boboiboy,” he managed to say. “I hope you both enjoy the rest of your day.”
To be continue..
